Is Permatripping Real?

For decades, every town had its spin on the story: the distant cousin or friend of a friend who took a bunch of acid and never came down from their trip. Rumor had it that many of these people were consigned to state asylums, unshakably convinced that they’d morphed into tall, precariously balanced glasses of orange…

Some Inbox Features Could Be Ported Over To Gmail

Several years ago, Google’s Gmail team launched a new email platform called Inbox. The idea with Inbox was to help users achieve inbox zero, where all emails would be sorted and cleared from the main inbox, thus allowing users to focus on incoming emails that actually matter. It was also smart enough to sort emails based on its content, such as trips, purchases, and more.

Unfortunately for Inbox users, Google announced that the service would be shut down this year, and are sending out notifications to users to remind them to switch back to Gmail. Now if you’re a fan of some of Inbox’s features, you might be interested to learn that in a post on Reddit, u/moodio has spotted what appears to be Google testing out bringing some Inbox features over to Gmail.

Moodio claims to have received the screenshot from a friend which shows Gmail sporting features like pinned messages, category bundles, reminders, and so on. Apparently this is still in the early phases of testing as there is still plenty of work that needs to be done with regards to the feature, so what you see in the screenshot might not be the final version.

It was also suggested that this could be unveiled at Google I/O which is scheduled to take place this May. It would be nice to see some of Inbox’s features brought over to Gmail so if you are an Inbox fan, this could be something to look forward to.

Honor View20 increases the bar for smartphone performance

The world of smartphones is a fascinating one, where trends tend to shift quickly from one to another. Huawei has slowly but surely moved up the food chain over the years, and have made their presence in the smartphone world felt yet again with the reveal of the Honor View20, setting new standards with many different kinds of first technologies packed underneath the hood. For starters, there is a 48MP camera at the back, a 25MP in-screen front camera, a 7nm Kirin 980 AI chipset, an AI Triple-Antenna Wi-Fi technology and the aurora nanotexture design, where all of these have never made their presence felt in a smartphone before.

We all know that having more megapixels in a camera does not automatically translate to a superior photo, but Huawei intends to change that perception with the Sony IMX586 48MP sensor that has a 1/2-inch CMOS which is equivalent to 1.6μm pixels in Quad Bayer array. When this sensor works alongside the Kirin 980 chipset, the 48MP AI Ultra Clarity mode will help produce photos that sport unmatched detail and clarity. It is capable of snapping several 48MP pictures simultaneously before collating the best details from each photo in order to create the perfect 48MP picture. Using the Kirin 980’s dual-NPU, it will process the photo via an advanced AI algorithm quickly.

There is also another rear 3D camera that will help create a new dimension in photography and videography for a greater degree of usability and fun. This 3D camera picks up information on various shapes of objects based upon the time-of-flight of light signals, enabling depth sensing, skeletal tracking and real-time motion capture. As for the advanced in-screen front camera design, you end up with a notch-less viewing experience alongside a 91.8% screen-to-touch panel ratio.

Other hardware specifications include 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, where it will arrive in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue colors with an asking price of 569 Euros, automatically placing this handset into the high end market.

Ford Made a Sweaty Robot Butt to Simulate Sweaty Human Butts

If you’ve ever gotten into your car after a big workout or on a really hot day, you and Ford’s latest robot likely have something in common. A sweaty butt. To make sure that your car seat will stand up to such things, Ford engineers in Europe are going all out.

Ford’s Robutt is designed to mimic a sweaty butt. Taint nothing butt another chance to get crackin’ on quality at Ford. Ford uses the butt to test the effectiveness of their car seats over time. It is basically a butt-shaped cushion attached to a Kuka industrial robot arm, which is repeatedly pressed onto the tester seat to recreate 10 years of sweaty wear and tear.

The sweat test takes three days to complete and by the end of it, Robutt sits in the test seat 7,500 times, and even leans from side to side. In case you are wondering, the Robutt has the butt dimensions of a large man, is heated to body temperature, and soaked with 450 milliliters of water.

So there you go. Robots are getting grosser as they strive to copy humans, showing us just how gross WE really are. At least you know that quality is still job one at Ford, and that those seats are built Ford tough.
