Earlier this year Canon launched the EOS RP, the more affordable version of its EOS R mirrorless lineup. Unfortunately if you were hoping to see more EOS R cameras this year, there’s a good chance that we might not see anything new this year. This is according to a report from Canon Rumors whose sources told them that there will be no new EOS R bodies being shipped out this year.
However this doesn’t mean that there won’t be any new announcements. According to the publication, they claim that there could be an off chance that Canon might announce a new camera later in the year, and that it might simply ship in early 2020 instead, but that’s just speculation so take it with a grain of salt for now.
It has been reported that Canon could have more mirrorless cameras in the works. One of those rumored cameras is a high-end EOS R model, which would give Canon the ability to cover pretty much all photographers with varying budgets (the EOS R is more of a mid-ranger, while the EOS RP is the entry-level model).
Take it with a grain of salt for now but we’ll have to wait and see if the company will be launching new cameras this year.

These days a lot of our smartphones have been designed to look good, and we suppose that’s a fair thing to do. However there are some users out there who need a phone that can withstand the elements, and while our smartphones do come with water-resistance, their design does leave them a bit too fragile for use in more rugged terrain.
This is where companies such as Kyocera come in where they have in the past launched rugged handsets. The company is back with its latest smartphone in the form of the DuraForce Pro 2 which has been launched on AT&T. As the name suggests, this is a smartphone designed to be durable where it will come with key features such as IP68 certification, and a Military Standard 810G rating for protecting against shocks, vibration, and extreme temperatures.
The phone is also expected to feature a Dragontrail Pro display that makes it scratch and crack-resistant. Like we said, the handset has clearly been designed for users who might need such protection, and as such is also FirstNet Ready, where it will work on the public safety broadband communications platform.
Other specs include 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a fingerprint sensor, and a dual camera setup on the game. It is available for purchase from AT&T where it is priced at $15 a month over the next 30 months, or $170 for a two-year agreement, or $445 if you’d rather buy it outright.

While our tablets might be viewed simply as larger phones, the fact of the matter is that they’re more than that. This is because while they might share a similar operating system, how we use our phones versus our tablets are very different, and as such apps designed for tablets are simply more than just scaled up versions of phone apps.
Mozilla knows this and has since announced an update to their Firefox app for the iPad where they have optimized it for the tablet. “We know that iPads aren’t just bigger versions of iPhones. You use them differently, you need them for different things. So rather than just make a bigger version of our browser for iOS, we made Firefox for iPad look and feel like it was custom made for a tablet. Mostly because it was.”
They have also listed down some of the tips and tricks on how to get the most out of Firefox for the iPad, such as taking advantage of the iPad’s support for split-screen where you can apps side-by-side. Then there is also tab management where Firefox has made its tabs into tiles to make them easier to tap.
There is also quick access to Private Browsing, support for being the default browser when opening links in Outlook, and also support for keyboard shortcuts if you’re using an external keyboard with your tablet. The update should already be live so head on over to the App Store for the download.

Boeing Software Updates to Fix Anti-Stall System 'Tentatively' Approved by FAA: Report

While the price of bitcoin has come down a bit compared to its peak, it is still very lucrative and it’s not surprising that many out there want to get into it. However it seems that according to a report from Bitwise, many scammers are aware of this and are taking advantage of it by launching various bitcoin scams.
In fact according to Bitwise, they found that the majority of bitcoin trading out there in the market today is actually a scam. This is based on an analysis of top 81 crypto exchanges, where it was found that they report an aggregated $6 billion in average daily bitcoin volume, but apparently only $273 million of that is legitimate.
According to Matthew Hougan who heads up research at Bitwise, “People looked at cryptocurrency and said this market is a mess; that’s because they were looking at data that was manipulated. When you cut away the echo chamber of these nonsense numbers, it should be an efficient, well-arbitraged market.”
He also tells CNBC, “The idea that there’s fake volume has been rumored for a long time; we were just the first people to systematically look at which exchanges were delivering real volume.” So what does this mean for investors? Basically it sounds like if you plan on investing into bitcoin trading, you’ll probably need to do some extensive research to ensure that you are not being scammed.

We all have our vices, but sometimes those vices can get the better of us where it might actually affect our lives and the lives of others around us, such as being an alcoholic. There are some who have successfully overcome their addiction to alcohol, but there are others who keep relapsing, suggesting that the recovery methods out there today might not be 100% effective.
However, according to scientists at Scripps Research, it seems that they might have found a solution. This is through the firing of a laser into the brain where the laser will blast certain neurons that will help reverse the person’s dependency on alcohol. However there is a big catch: they have only successfully tested this out on rats, meaning that whether or not it will work for human being remains to be seen.
At the same time ,it does show promise and it is a good reason to be excited about it. Speaking to Digital Trends, Scripps professor Olivier George said, “What is so exciting about these findings is that we were able to control the motivation to drink alcohol in severely dependent individuals with the flip of a switch. By implanting fiber optics deep in the brain and turning on a laser that inhibits these neurons specifically we could dramatically decrease alcohol drinking and the physical symptoms of withdrawal.”
Unfortunately, as promising as it might be, it seems that it might be a long time before we see its use in humans. According to George, this is due to the use of cutting-edge technologies that have yet to be approved for humans, and that it could probably take 15-30 years before we even see it implemented, if at all.

Those who are afflicted with deafness usually have no choice but to live with it. Granted hearing aids have improved greatly over the years, but in terms of a full on cure, that is still something a little out of reach, or at least until recently.
According to a press release put out by the South African Government (via Disclose.TV), it seems that doctors in region have performed the first ever middle ear transplant which in turn has cured a patient of deafness.
Through the use of 3D printed middle ear bones developed by Professor Mashudu Tshifularo and his team at the University of Pretoria (UP) Faculty of Health, it seems that they have successfully cured the deafness of the patient involved, allowing him to hear again after his middle ear was damaged in a car accident.
According to Tshifularo, “By replacing only the ossicles that aren’t functioning properly, the procedure carries significantly less risk than known prostheses and their associated surgical procedures. We will use titanium for this procedure, which is biocompatible. We use an endoscope to do the replacement, so the transplant is expected to be quick, with minimal scarring.”
The best part about this surgery is that it can be performed on anyone and everyone, including new-borns who might be born deaf. It also reduces the chance of facial nerve paralysis which can occur if the facial nerve that passes through the middle ear space is damaged during traditional surgery.
