New AirPower Image Spotted On Apple’s Website

While Apple has yet to officially confirm when its AirPower wireless charging mat will launch, there have been signs and rumors that the device could be close to launching. In fact according to MacRumors, they have discovered that within Apple’s website’s source code, there is a reference to a new image of the AirPower (pictured above).

We have not seen this photo before which means that we can only assume that it will be used when the device is launched. It also confirms that the accessory has not been canceled because why else would Apple bother creating new images for a product they don’t plan on launching, right?

Unfortunately the image doesn’t really tell us when the AirPower will be launched, but hopefully, it will be soon. What’s interesting about this image is that compared to other images in the past, this image shows the iPhone XS and the AirPods on it, with the Apple Watch having mysteriously vanished.

We’re not sure if this is an indication that the AirPower will not be capable of charging the Apple Watch or if this is just a variant of the image, but either way, we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, Apple has launched its new AirPods headphones that comes with a wireless charging case which can be recharged using the AirPower.

Netflix Testing Out Cheaper Mobile-Only Plans For Some Markets

Netflix’s plans aren’t prohibitively expensive, but the company has been steadily raising their prices over the years which means that at some point in time, it will be too expensive for some. However, the good news is that for some users in select markets in the world, Netflix could be considering cheaper plans.

According to a report from the Economic Times (via Engadget), Netflix is said to be testing out a cheaper, mobile-only plan in India where it will cost 250 rupees a month, which after conversion is roughly $3.64. This makes it half the price of a standard Netflix plan and will come with limitations, such as only being able to stream in standard quality and can only be viewed on their phones and tablets.

However, it has been pointed out that despite this being a lower price, it is actually more expensive than what Amazon is charging its customers in India for Prime Video where it is priced around $1.88. India is not the only market that Netflix is testing out cheaper, mobile-only plans. The company had previously tested out a similar plan in Malaysia, but it is unclear if they plan to eventually expand that to more markets at a later date.

Safari Zero-Day Exploit Can Takeover A Mac Computer Entirely

Safari is Apple’s default browser that comes bundled with their iOS and macOS devices. It’s a pretty decent browser but unfortunately, it seems that it might not necessarily be the most secure. This is according to a demonstration made at a white-hat hacker security conference in Vancouver, Canada.

According to the demonstration, it seems that two exploits were discovered in Safari. The first exploit allowed it to escape Apple’s built-in sandbox, and while that’s pretty bad on its own, the second was actually more worrying because it allowed the hackers to gain both root and kernel access to the Mac computer which means that they could in theory takeover your computer entirely.

What’s a bit disturbing about this is that this isn’t the first time that hackers have used Safari to gain control of a Mac. Back in 2018, there was another zero-day Safari exploit that allowed hackers to gain control of the Touch Bar on a MacBook laptop. The good news is that Apple is aware of at least one the exploits, and presumably, they should now be aware of the second.

Hopefully, the company will issue a patch soon that will close these security holes, and the good news is that to date we haven’t heard of anyone being affected by it. The researchers who discovered the exploit, the phoenhex & qwerty team, were awarded $45,000. More details can be found on ZDI’s website.
