The Cloud is empowering but it’s also a double-edged sword

Google just announced its Stradia game streaming service and its perhaps one of the best examples of how far “The Cloud” has come. Online games are nothing new but few aside from text-based games are able to reduce the client side to a “dumb terminal”. Cloud computing has undoubtedly changed the way we work, consume content, and interact with services. … Continue reading

Google Is Slowly Removing Traces Of Inbox From The Internet

Recently Google had confirmed that Inbox by Gmail will be shutting down on the 2nd of April, around two weeks from now. It seems that Google is now working to try and remove all traces of the platform’s existence from the internet, or at least as much as possible because according to reports, users can no longer find the app in the Play Store.

This doesn’t mean that the app has been removed completely. Instead it seems that while Google has removed it from being listed on the Play Store and users can no longer search for it, a direct link to the app shows that it is still very much in existence, although presumably Google no longer wants users to download the app at this stage in the game.

It is a bit of a pity as Inbox by Gmail seems to have been quite a fan favorite. For those unfamiliar with Inbox by Gmail, this is an email platform launched by Google several years ago that tried to help users better manage their emails. This included the ability to snooze emails, set reminders for emails, and automatically bundle emails together for easier reference and viewing, especially for trips/holidays.

We’re not sure why Google decided to end the service especially since based on the comments, everyone is pretty sad to see it go. Maybe Google will come up with something new and improved in the future, but until then, we guess users will just have to start getting used to Gmail again.

Apple’s MacBook Pros Just Got A Bit Cheaper

Apple’s MacBook Pro laptops don’t come cheap, but the good news is that if you were thinking about picking up a new MacBook Pro from Apple, you’ll be pleased to learn that Apple seems to have reduced the price for some of the MacBook Pro models. These price changes appear to be permanent instead of being a limited-time sale, so you should be able to take advantage of it anytime.

However we should note that these price changes only seem to be affecting the higher-end models. For example the 15-inch MacBook Pro, if customers were to upgrade from 512GB to 4TB of storage, the price is now $2,800 versus $3,200 from before. We’re not sure who would actually pay that much to get a 4TB SSD, but it will save you a few hundred now.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro is also affected by these price changes, where upgrading to the 2TB SSD option has been reduced by $200, which is still quite pricey but we suppose saving yourself a couple of hundred is still pretty good. Unfortunately like we said, these changes only seem to be applicable to the higher-end upgrades, so unless you have a need for a high capacity SSD in your laptop, you might not be able to take advantage of these price changes.

Apple’s iMacs Get Updated With New Processors

Apple recently updated its iMac Pro where they gave users an option to add 256GB of RAM to the computer. For those who don’t see the need to own the iMac Pro and just want an iMac refresh, then you’re in luck because it seems that Apple has not forgotten about its iMac Pro and has given it an update.

The update will focus more on the processors so if you were hoping for an overhaul in terms of design and features, that is not the case. The iMac will continue to look and feel very much like its predecessors, but will benefit from using Intel’s 9th-gen processors. The 21.5-inch iMac will now feature the use of Intel’s 9th-gen 6-core processors, while the larger 27-inch iMac will feature the use of the same processors, but offer up to 8-cores which according to Apple, makes it 2.4x faster.

The updated iMacs will also feature the use of AMD’s Radeon Pro Vega graphics for those who want to game or get some video editing done, but other than that, we’re afraid there aren’t that many changes made to the computers. There have been rumors that Apple could be exploring a redesign of the iMac, but if they are, it definitely did not show up in this refresh.

If you’d like to check out the new and updated iMacs and configure them to your own needs, head on over to Apple’s website for the details.
