Galaxy A90 invite practically confirms popup camera

Samsung isn’t one to be completely subtle when it comes to its official teasers. It pretty much confirmed its folding smartphone’s appearance in last month’s Unpacked ads. Late last year, it also teased “A Galaxy Event” that unveiled the new Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A9, the latter with Samsung’s first quad-camera setup. Now it has A Galaxy Event scheduled next … Continue reading

Old iPad Cases Won’t Fit Apple’s New iPad Air And iPad Mini

Apple recently launched their new iPads in the form of the 10.5-inch iPad Air and the iPad mini. For those who are planning to get the new iPads and are thinking that maybe some of your older iPad cases can still fit (like the iPad mini), think again. According to AppleInsider, it seems that the new iPads won’t play nice with existing cases.

This might be a bit confusing because the new iPad mini looks a lot like its predecessor. At a glance it looks identical even, but according to the specs, the new iPad mini is actually taller and also thicker compared to the iPad mini 3. This means that existing iPad mini 3 cases will not fit the tablet.

But what about the iPad mini 4? The dimensions are identical, but even then there might be some compromises you’ll have to make depending on the case you’re using. This is because the new iPad mini has longer volume rockers, meaning that if the case you’re using has made-to-fit volume rockers then this could pose a problem. Apple has also opted to reposition the microphone where it is placed towards the middle top portion of the tablet, versus next to the camera.

This could result in the microphone being muffled if you’re trying to record. These are some of the things you have to consider if you plan on reusing any old cases.

Apple Watch Will Try To Reduce False Afib Notifications

One of the new features of the Apple Watch Series 4 is that it comes with a built-in ECG. The feature seems to have saved more than its fair share of lives to date, but at the same time it seems that some doctors aren’t a fan of the feature as it seems to be causing undue panic for some of their patients.

Some have even said that those aged 65 and below should probably ignore the feature. We’re not sure if that is the best idea, but in a report from Men’s Health, it seems that Apple is working no ensure that the Apple Watch will be able to reduce the number of false notifications from the ECG feature with regards to Afib.

For those who are unfamiliar, Afib can be a precursor to quite a few medical conditions, such as strokes, blood clots, or heart failure. Apple has warned that the ECG feature is not meant to act as a diagnosing tool, but rather as a warning that the wearer should make a trip to their doctor where they can then be properly diagnosed.

According to Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s VP of Health, “Before a notification is given to a person, the feature has to see five instances that look like Afib. By doing that gating within the algorithm, Apple designed toward specificity and toward avoiding unnecessary alerts.”

Netflix Confirms They Won’t Be Part Of Apple’s Streaming Service

Apple has confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 25th of March where the company is largely expected to unveil the new video streaming service. The service is expected to play home to Apple’s own original content, as well as act as a hub where users can subscribe to other streaming services as well.

However if there is one service that will not be part of Apple’s streaming bundle, it will be Netflix. This is according to a report in which Netflix CEO Reed Hastings confirmed that Netflix will not be part of Apple’s upgraded TV appl. It’s not surprising that they would go about it that way, especially since being part of Apple’s streaming bundle means that Netflix would most likely have to give a cut to the company for subscriptions.

Hastings had also previously stated that they would much prefer being able to control its own content through its own app. In a tweet by Peter Kafka, he shared a quote from Hastings as saying, “Apple’s a great company. We want to have people watch our shows on our services.” So far according to the rumors, Apple’s upcoming service is expected to cost $15 a month.

This is more expensive than regular streaming services, but if the rumors are true about it possibly including music, news, and magazines, it could be worth it.
