Over 1.2 million of…
Captain Marvel has two identities. She’s Carol Danvers, Air Force pilot, human woman of Earth. She’s also a Kree warrior, an elite pilot fighting a galactic war. This concept art emphasizes that second identity—portraying her as something fundamentally more alien than we see in the films.

Amazon has seen considerable success with its low-cost Fire tablets and it appears that Walmart wants in on the action as well. A new report claims that the retailer is planning to launch a cheap Android tablet under its in-house ONN brand. The device will be made by a Chinese supplier and is going to be powered by Android.
A spokesperson for Walmart confirmed to Bloomberg that this tablet will be launched under the in-house ONN brand. It’s expected to have functionality which would make the cheap Android tablet a good fit for kids.
There aren’t a lot of details available as yet about the technical specs of this new tablet. The report only mentions that it will be geared toward the budget customer in mind and as such its primary competitors would be the Fire HD 8 which costs $79.99. That Amazon tablet is also available in a Kids Edition variant.
Amazon’s Fire tablets run on a heavily forked version of Android so they don’t get access to the full variety of Android apps. What’s unclear at this point in time is whether Walmart would go down the same route for its Android tablet or if it’s going to stick with a stock Android experience.
There’s also no pricing and availability information online as yet about this new tablet. Whether or not they will be able to sell as well as Amazon’s Fire tablets have remains to be seen.

Facebook is expanding its use of artificial intelligence to moderate the content that gets uploaded to its platform in order to ensure that the community guidelines are not violated. The company has revealed that it’s now using a new artificial intelligence tool which is capable of proactively detecting and flagging revenge porn.
Revenge porn can be described as the intimate photos and videos of someone that are posted without their consent. It has been criminalized in some states and is obviously not allowed on social media platforms. Facebook’s AI tool will ensure that none slips through on both Facebook itself and Instagram. Unlike current filters, this tool will be able to detect “near-nude” content. All content that the tool flags is sent for review to a human moderator.
This is a significant change to how things were handled previously. Facebook and Instagram users has to report revenge porn themselves. “Often victims are afraid of retribution so they are reluctant to report the content themselves or are unaware the content has been shared,” said Facebook’s global head of safety Antigone Davis. The new tool will thus bring about an improvement why automatically flagging such content and sending it to human moderators for review before anyone even reports it.
Facebook has offered little detail on how this AI tool actually works, though, and what signals it picks up in order to flag a photo or video as revenge porn.

B&H customers certainly appreciated that other than New York and New Jersey, it did not charge sales tax on purchases made online. That’s ending gradually, though, and the latest state to lose that tax-free status is California. The retailer has confirmed that it will start charging sales tax in California from April 1st.
It was only a matter of time before this decision was taken. The end of its long tax-free status for most states across the country ended in December last year when B&H started collecting taxes on purchases from 22 states. It has now yanked the exemption previously enjoyed by California.
B&H charged sales tax in New York and New Jersey because it only had a physical presence there. The retailer was required to charge sales tax in additional states following the verdict in the South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc Supreme Court case.
“As you may know, based on a June 2018 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, California is now requiring out of state sellers to collect sales tax. As a result, B&H will begin to collect sales tax on shipments to California on April 1st,” the company said.
Customers in California who have been eyeing something on B&H should go ahead and purchase it because it will be tax-free as of now. This exemption will be taken away on April 1st so customers have until then to make tax-free purchases through B&H.
