Samsung Embraces The Galaxy S10’s Hole-Punch Display With New Wallpapers

With the Samsung Galaxy S10, the company has opted to not use a notch in favor of a hole-punch display. Depending on your personal preference, you might like/hate it more than the notch. Samsung has in the past tried to cover it up by including wallpaper that would black out that area.

However it seems that Samsung has decided that instead of trying to fight it, they have embraced it by releasing new wallpapers that take advantage of the hole-punch in smart and funny ways. If this looks familiar, it is because previously some wallpapers were created and shared that took advantage of the cutouts, so it looks like Samsung drew some inspiration from there.

Samsung has since shared these images on Twitter so if you are a proud owner of a brand new Samsung Galaxy S10, then perhaps these wallpapers might be worth taking a look at. As Android Police points out, there are more that you can choose from via the Samsung themes store, but these will cost you money and unless there’s a design you really want, chances are you will be able to find free alternatives made by the community somewhere on the internet.

That being said we’re not sure how long Samsung plans on keeping the hole-punch around for, but for now these wallpapers sure look like a fun way to make use of them

James Gunn Is Back To Direct Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Last year, the future of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise was cast in some doubt as the series’ director, James Gunn, was fired by Disney over some offensive tweets he made years ago. The third installment in the franchise was then put on hold as Marvel looked for a new director for the movie.

However in what feels like the biggest plot twist of the year (so far), a report from Deadline has revealed that Gunn is back in the director’s seat. According to the report, it seems that Gunn had met with Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn multiple times to discuss the situation, where Horn was ultimately persuaded by Gunn’s apology and reversed the course to reinstate him as the movie’s director.

Gunn has since confirmed that the report is true in a post on Twitter where he expressed his gratitude towards all those who had supported him. Previously the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy had attempted to petition Disney to change their mind, with actor Dave Bautista (who plays Drax) being the most vocal of all, even threatening to quit the movie if Gunn was not reinstated.

In the meantime Gunn will also be directing the sequel to DC’s Suicide Squad.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Proximity Sensor Bug Is Waking The Phone In Pockets

Proximity sensors are sensors that we can typically find in our phones these days. For the most part we don’t really given them too much thought, but when they don’t work as intended, it can be annoying which is what some Samsung Galaxy S10 users are discovering. According to the reports, it seems that some users are finding that due to a bug, the proximity sensor on their phones isn’t working as intended.

For those unfamiliar with the functionality of a proximity sensor, it helps turn off the phone’s screen when you put it next to your ear while on a call. However according to users, it works fine on that front but when placed in their pocket, somehow it prevents the phone’s display from turning off which causes the phone to drain more battery than it really should.

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a fix for the problem at the moment. Even users who lower the screen’s sensitivity are finding that it still doesn’t work. Samsung has yet to officially comment on the issue so it is unclear if we are looking at a hardware problem or a software problem that can be addressed with a patch.

Hopefully the company is taking note of these issues and that a fix can be released soon, assuming that it is software related.
