Firefox Send Encrypted File Sharing Service Goes Live

Mozilla launched Firefox Send in beta quite a while back. It’s a file-sharing service that allows users to share files with end-to-end encryption. The link to the file automatically expires so that users have peace of mind that their stuff doesn’t stay online for free. Mozilla has now confirmed that Firefox Send is no longer an experiment as it has exited the beta.

Users can share files with download links that expire automatically after a certain period of time. They can also set the number of people who can download the file before it ceases to exist. Users can even set up an additional password which would be required before the recipient can download the file. There’s obviously nothing stopping people who download the file from Firefox Send to make as many copies of the file as they so desire and distribute to their heart’s content.

Mozilla claims that this functionality makes Firefox Send a better service for sharing sensitive documents and files online. Since this is a browser-based service, you can start using Firefox Send from today in any browser.

It’s possible to send files of up to 1GB by default. Those who sign up for a free Firefox account will be able to send files of up to 2.5GB. Mozilla is also launching an app for Android in beta so that users can also share files from their mobile devices.

Spotify Premium Bundles Hulu For No Extra Charge

Are you subscribed to Spotify Premium? If you are, there’s a nice little incentive that has now been bundled with that subscription. The Spotify Premium subscription now gets you access to the ad-supported plan of Hulu. This benefit is available starting today to all of those who are subscribed to Spotify Premium.

All new and existing Spotify Premium users will be able to take advantage of this perk. They will be able to access Hulu’s ad-supported plan for on-demand content streaming as long as they’re paying for their Spotify subscription.

Hulu has already lowered the cost of its ad-supported plan recently after Netflix raised prices recently. This perk provides an additional incentive to Spotify users who are paying for the Premium tier as they save $5.99 per month for the Hulu plan. New Spotify users can sign up for this perk right away, they will have to activate Hulu from the Your Services page in account settings.

Those who subscribe to Hulu directly and don’t have a Spotify account yet, they will have to cancel their billing through Hulu and then set up a Spotify account just to get access to Hulu for free. There is a caveat with this free access to Hulu, though. Subscribers are not allowed to add premium channels such as HBO or Showtime. Users in the United States can sign up for this promotion until June 10th, 2019.

DirecTV Now Price To Go Up As HBO Gets Bundled

AT&T’s DirecTV Now streaming service is about to get a bit more expensive but with good reason. The company is raising subscription prices by an additional $10 per month but is providing subscribers with access to HBO in return. The existing packages that DirecTV Now subscribers have access to are being restructured by AT&T which is replacing them with two new options.

With DirecTV Now Plus, subscribers will get more than 40 channels which includes HBO for $50 per month. DirecTV Now Max is the second package which has more than 50 channels as well as HBO for $70 per month. The price for both of these tiers is $10 per month more than what DirecTV Now subscribers are currently paying.

The service has alerted users of the price hike today and it will take effect on April 12th. Even though HBO is now being bundled into DirecTV Now subscriptions, this doesn’t mean that this is where the streaming plans end as far as HBO is concerned.

A completely new streaming service built around HBO is in the pipeline and is expected to be launched in beta by the end of this year. It will offer three new subscription packages all for streaming HBO content. No further information is available at this point in time about the new HBO-focused streaming service.
