Pixel 3 And Pixel 3 XL Now Accepted By Google’s Mail-In Repair Center

Even though it has been almost five months since Google released the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, the company’s mail-in repair center did not accept the new devices. This would make it difficult to get the device repaired from the company were it to get damaged. That finally changes today as the company’s mail-in repair center now accepts Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners couldn’t use the services of Google’s mail-in repair center for their devices. They had to find a walk-in uBreakifix location instead which was handling official repairs for these devices.

You’ll still find that the Google repair center directs Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners to head to a walk-in location but the company has updated the support page to confirm that Pixel 3s can now be mailed-in straight to the company.

Google’s mail-in repair center is finally accepting the aforementioned handsets for repair work. The entire process can take up to ten days but will be a good option for those who don’t live near an authorized walk-in location.

A repair request can be initiated by entering an IMEI or serial number on the repair center website. This process is separate from handsets that have Preferred Care which provides members with a replacement device shipped overnight.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 Refresh May Bring Quadcore CPU

A new report suggests that Microsoft may soon refresh its cheapest Surface Book 2 notebook in the near future. Some retailer listings have been spotted which suggest this possibility. One major change that Microsoft might be making with this refresh is the addition of a quadcore CPU. The Surface Book 2 currently has a dualcore processor.

WinFuture has spotted retailer listings which show that the Surface Book 2 will get a new CPU in this refresh. The chipset might be bumped up from the dualcore i5-7300U to the quadcore i5-8350U.

Aside from the two additional cores, this processor bump also boosts the maximum clock speed from 3.5 GHz to 3.6 GHz. This should result in a significant increase in the multicore computing power. All of the other specs are likely going to be the same. This includes 8GB of RAM, two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, one Type-C port, an SD card reader, and a 3000×2000 resolution display.

The scribe mentions that retailers have started listing the refreshed 13 inch Surface Book 2 for $1,499. That’s the recommended price for the existing 256GB model of the device but it’s currently discounted to $1,299 on the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft hasn’t officially said as yet when it’s planning to unveil the refreshed version of the Surface Book 2. These retailer listings suggest that it may not be long before that happens.
