Tesla’s Third-Generation Supercharger Enables 250kW Charging

At a customer event in California, Tesla has unveiled the third-generation Supercharger charging stations which will allow for significantly faster charging of its electric cars. The new “V3” Supercharger is fully capable of charging some Model 3 vehicles at 250kW. Tesla says that this will be enough to add 75 miles of range in just five minutes. The company says that it’s going to start putting up the third-generation Superchargers starting next month.

These new chargers deliver a significant improvement over the existing V2 chargers as they have a max output of 150kW but are actually capped at 120kW. Tesla is going to change that as well, allowing them to hit a peak charge rate of 145kW in the coming weeks.

The first V3 Supercharger is open in Fremont but only to members of the company’s “early access program.” That’s a small group of owners which Tesla allows to test new versions of its software. It will speed up the installation of V3 Superchargers are more locations starting next month.

Access will “roll out to the wider fleet in an over the air firmware update to all owners in Q2 as more V3 Superchargers come online,” the company said. Tesla also mentioned that V3 Superchargers will be rolled out to markets across Europe and Asia Pacific in Q4.

Original Diablo Now Available From GOG.com

The original Diablo title from 1996 has a lot of fans and they will be delighted to hear that the game is now available for the first time digitally on GOG.com. They can get the title from there and also choose between two modes. They can choose between the two versions that are now available for download for Windows from GOG.com.

This has been made possible because of a partnership between Blizzard and gaming marketplace GOG.com. As such, the digital versions of Warcraft 2 and Warcraft: Orcs and Humans are also being developed. Blizzard hasn’t confirmed precisely when these titles are going to be released.

There’s an old-school version with 20 FPS, Battle.net multiplayer support, and SVGA graphics.
The other version comes with Windows 10 support out of the box, gets high-resolution support in addition to bug fixes.

This re-release is now available from GOG.com and Windows users can get it for $9.99. There’s absolutely no requirement to download the Blizzard app first before one can get the original Diablo title. Fans who use Macs don’t have much to rejoice as the company has confirmed that this re-release is only for Windows. It doesn’t say if a version for Mac is going to be created in the future.

Xiaomi To Launch Black Shark 2 Gaming Phone On March 18th

It has been known for a while now that Xiaomi has a new gaming smartphone in the pipeline. It’s the successor to the first Xiaomi Black Shark and will most likely be called the Black Shark 2. The company has now officially confirmed that this handset will be unveiled on March 18th in China.

The confirmation comes through a teaser that the company posted on Weibo, China’s equivalent of Twitter, earlier today. It confirms that the second-generation gaming smartphone will be launched on March 18th.

Reports suggest that this handset will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform in addition to at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. That’s standard fare for any high-end device in 2019. There may also be another configuration with 256GB storage and 12GB of RAM. Like the existing Black Shark Helo, there may also be a variant which has 10GB of RAM.

Other than that, not much is known about this device right now. We can expect that Xiaomi will make improvements to the cooling system since smartphones tend to heat up during intense gaming sessions. There may also be a chunky battery so expect a capacity of at least 4,000mAh. Xiaomi may only make the device available in China initially before rolling it out in other markets across Europe.
