For some people, writing emails is as natural as breathing or speaking. For others, nothing fills them with such dread. In order to ease the burden off users’ shoulders, Google created Smart Compose to put its machine learning facilities at their service. Initially available only on the Web and exclusively to the Pixel 3 on smartphones, Smart Compose is now … Continue reading
The removal of the historic Infinity Blade games from the iOS App Store last December highlighted a malady that besets the mobile app market. Once unmaintained and left in the dust of older OS versions, these games, no matter how popular or important they once were, are in danger of disappearing forever. Last month it was reported that Nintendo could be working to bring virtual reality (VR) to the Nintendo Switch soon. The good news is that it looks like they have in a rather interesting way in the form of the Nintendo Labo VR Kit. As you can see, this is a VR headset that is reminiscent of Google Cardboard where the Switch will act as the display for the VR headset.
Also judging by the design on the outside of the box, there are various ways for users to enjoy VR using the kit, such as creating a kit that looks like a bird and experience “flying”, a gun-like kit that could let players play an FPS game, and there is also a kit that looks like it could double up as a camera of sorts.
The Labo VR Kit will be priced at $80 for the full set. This includes the software, goggles, and five cardboard designs that are shown on the box. There will also be a cheaper starter kit priced at $40 which includes the software, goggles, and the blaster/rifle design. The additional designs are expected to be made available later on as an expansion.
If this sounds like something you might be interested in, you will be able to get your hands on the kit starting on the 12th of April.

If you’re looking to get your kids off the couch and get them to work out more, perhaps a fitness tracker could help with that. Last year Fitbit launched the Fitbit Ace which was an activity tracker designed for kids, and now it looks like come 2019, the company will be following up with a new model in the form of the Fitbit Ace 2.
As you can see in the image above, the design of the Fitbit Ace 2 has been designed to look more fun and colorful compared to Fitbit’s other offerings. The Ace 2 will also be bigger than its predecessor, although apparently this was designed so that the device could be water-resistant up to a depth of 50m. This is versus its predecessor which was only sweat and splash proof, meaning that your kids should be able to use the Ace 2 for swimming without any issue.
There will also be a built-in bumper around the display that is designed to protect the screen to prevent it from scratches and bumps. Fitbit has also included a new animated design for its watch faces which they claim will help motivate kids to hit their activity goals. The best part is that at $100, it is more affordable than its predecessor and hopefully it will make it easier for parents to get on board with it.

If you are planning on buying the Samsung Galaxy S10, you may at some point notice that there is a blinking white light on the upper portion of the display. Now before you freak out and think that you got a defective model, think again because this is actually on purpose and is actually linked to the phone’s proximity sensor.
Samsung has actually informed users of this feature in the manual for the phone, although given that we’re sure that not many people actually bother to read their manuals, this could be missed. Basically the white dot is designed to highlight where the proximity sensor is located and only comes on when you make a phone call. It is also to let users know to put their face/ear close to the phone which will then turn off the display when you’re close.
So if you do buy the Galaxy S10 and you see the blinking white dot while making a phone call, don’t worry as it is completely intentional. You can check out the video above if you’d like to see the dot in action and to see what it might look like. This should be applicable across the entire Galaxy S10 lineup which includes the lower-end Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy S10+.

Nintendo Does VR Now, Again
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe Nintendo Switch already felt like the best part of a VR experience thanks to the wizardry of the Joy-Con controllers in some games, but now it’s going full VR. Tonight the company announced the Nintendo Labo: VR Kit, an $80 Labo kit that lets users build a VR headset out of cardboard. This is the first major foray…
You would think that companies who develop games for mobile would want to take advantage of gamers and try to squeeze as much money out of them as possible. That seems to be what many developers have successfully done over the years, making millions upon millions of dollars.
Oddly enough that doesn’t seem to be what Nintendo wants. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, it seems that Nintendo is apparently asking for developers of its mobile games to try and make it so that gamers won’t need to spend excessive amounts of money on its game.
This was revealed by an agent for CyberAgent, the developer behind the mobile Dragalia Lost title. “Nintendo is not interested in making a large amount of revenue from a single smartphone game. If we managed the game alone, we would have made a lot more.” Nintendo later confirmed this to be true in statement that reads, “We discuss various things, not just limited to payments, to deliver high-quality fun to consumers.”
According to the report, apparently Nintendo’s interest in mobile is to create games that expose gamers to its various characters and franchises in hopes it will encourage them to buy their consoles and their games. It is an interesting approach and we’ll have to see how it pays off for the company in the long run.

While the first-gen Google Glass wasn’t exactly a smashing success (perhaps it was too much ahead of its time), Google has since had some luck with Google Glass finding its way into the enterprise sector. In fact it appears that Google could be working on a second-gen Google Glass Enterprise Edition if the recent leaks are to be believed.
In a post on Technoblog (via 9to5Google), it seems that the second-gen Google Glass Enterprise Edition has found its way online. Based on the images and assuming that they might be the real deal, one of the main changes we see that Google has made is change the use of the magnetic pin system used for charging and transferring data. Instead it seems that Google has decided to go with something a little more standard with USB-C.
While the photos don’t tell us what else we might be able to expect, earlier benchmarks of the device revealed that it could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, have an integrated LTE modem, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, a 32MP camera, 3GB of RAM, and will be powered by Google’s very own Android 8.0 Oreo platform.
There is no word on when the device will be launched, but we’ll keep an eye out for the details, although chances are you might not be able to buy it since it will be aimed mostly towards enterprise users.
