There are many languages spoken around the world, but if you are planning on doing business in the west, then there is a good chance that your business will be conducted in English. The company has recently launched a free app over in India called Bolo. This is an app designed to help teach English to kids in the country, where it has been optimized for native Hindi speakers where it can take advatange of Google’s speech recognition and text-to-speech technology.

It will feature colorful drawings and cute characters to make the lessons more appealing and entertaining. The lessons included are mostly aimed at primary grade level students where there are also stories featured in both languages aimed at different reading levels. There will also be built-in games where kids can then get to practice what they have learned.

The app is completely free and according to Google, they have no plans on monetizing it and that the app is completely safe for children to use. It is expected that the app will be eventually updated with support for more Indian languages.

Gmail’s Smart Compose Now Available On All Android Devices

For the longest time ever, Smart Compose is a feature that can be found on Gmail on the desktop. For those unfamiliar, basically Smart Compose will help users complete sentences that they type in their email where Google will be able to make suggestions on how your sentence should be completed.

It later eventually found its way onto mobile where for a while, it was exclusive to Google’s Pixel smartphones. The good news is that if you’re not a Pixel owner, it seems that Smart Compose is now making its way onto non-Pixel handsets. This is according to a report from Android Police who discovered that the feature (previously exclusive to the Pixel 3 and 3 XL) is now available on other devices like the Pixel 2 XL and the OnePlus 6T.

According to Android Police, the feature should be auto-enabled which means that you’ll need to have the latest version of Gmail and you should be good to go. Users will be greeted by a popup message that explains the feature to users when the app is launched. If you don’t see the feature, then it might not have found its way to your device yet.

Alternatively you could always launch the settings in the Gmail app to see if the feature is available and if it might have been disabled.

iPhone Prices Are Reportedly Being Slashed Again In China To Spur Sales

Demand for the iPhone in China seems to be weak and it is unclear if it could be due to the price simply being too high, or if it could be due to the trade war between both countries. Price cuts were then introduced to help spur sales, which some seem to believe could be working, but perhaps it isn’t working as well as Apple would have liked.

So much so that according to the Taipei Central News Agency (via PhoneArena), it seems that several retailers in China are slashing their prices even further. Take for example the iPhone XS whose price will be slashed by as much as $150 if you were to buy it from Suning’s physical stores, but if you were to buy it online, then you could expect to prices cut by as much as $195.

JD.com will also be slashing their prices by a similar amount, and with the iPhone XS Max, it seems that those discounts could be more. Suning has discounted the phone by a whopping $300 when purchased upfront, while JD is offering a $250 discount. Note that these prices are only offered by the retailer which means that you will need to purchase from them directly.

It is unclear if these discounts were made by the retailers themselves or if Apple might have encouraged it, but either way the cheaper prices should see more customers hop on board the iPhone bandwagon.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Scores 3 Out Of 10 For Repairability

These days at the exorbitant prices that handset makers are asking from us, many of us are holding onto our phones longer than before, where instead of upgrading every year or every other year, we might be keeping them for as long as three years, if not more. This means that not only do we have to take care of our devices, but we have to make sure that they can be easily repaired in the event that they need repairing.

According to a recent teardown by iFixit, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will not be the easiest phone to repair. The teardown report has given the phone a dismal 3 out of 10 in terms of repairability, citing issues like the battery where it is “unnecessarily difficult” to replace, and a glued down glass on the front and back means it would be more prone to breakage.

They also point out issues like an excessive amount of adhesive which makes disassembly a lot harder. However they do note that unlike Apple which uses proprietary screws, the Galaxy S10 can be disassembled using a single Philips driver. They also note that the components are mostly modular which means that they can be replaced individually, as opposed to having to replace multiple components just for one part.

That being said we imagine that repair score might not matter for most people, but it’s definitely something to take into consideration if you plan on keeping the phone around for a long time.
