The Durable Glass Bendy Phones Need Could Be Years Away

I’ve loved the idea of folding gadgets ever since Arthur C. Clarke talked about flexible “SoftScreens” in books like, The Light of Other Days. A device that can be folded and crumpled without breaking? That’s my idea of the perfect gadget, and while the bendy Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X seem like they bring…

Official Game Of Thrones Season 8 Trailer Released

HBO has been teasing the final season of Game of Thrones over the past few months but there has been little in the way of actual footage from the upcoming season. That changes today as the cable giant has released the first official Game of Thrones season 8 trailer. There’s plenty of unseen footage which offers us a glimpse of what to expect from the final few episodes of this hit series.

It’s clear from the outset of the trailer that all of the main characters in the story are gearing up for what’s most likely going to be the biggest battle of their lives. They’re preparing for the impending invasion of the White Walkers. The new enemy that they face is far more deadly than any else they have gone up against before.

Those who have seen all of the previous seasons would know that the White Walkers ended up getting their own dragon at the end of the previous season. That’s obviously not going to make things easier for the North as they try and hold their own against the White Walkers. That’s despite the fact that Daenerys Targaryen still has two of her three dragons.

Game of Thrones season 8 is going to premiere on HBO come April 14th. There’s definitely going to be plenty of action in this final season.

Dr. Scholl's Found a Good Use for 3D Printing, and My Feet Are So Much Happier for It

If a large part of your day is spent on your feet, a good pair of shoes can only do so much to keep you comfortable. Every foot requires different levels of support and cushioning, and ideally, we’d all visit a pedorthist for a custom set of shoe inserts, were it not so expensive. Dr. Scholl’s has a cheaper $99…

LEGO Fold Cashes In On The Foldable Smartphone Hype

There has been a lot of talk about foldable smartphones over the past couple of weeks. Samsung led with the announcements when it unveiled the Galaxy Fold on February 20th ahead of MWC 2019 in Barcelona the following week. LEGO has humorously decided to cash in on this hype for the “LEGO Fold,” which isn’t actually a foldable smartphone, it’s a Pop-Up Book set.

LEGO sent out a tweet promoting the Pop-Up Book set in a style of marketing similar to that of the Galaxy Fold. Even the image itself would remind you of one of the marketing images for the Galaxy Fold.

The company even throws in some numbers to keep up the comparison with Samsung’s actual foldable smartphone. It says that the “5-inch cover display unfolds into an 11-inch pop-up story book.” The Galaxy Fold’s cover display is slightly larger than 4 inches while it has a 7.3 inch foldable display.

The book set also has another major advantage compared to the foldable smartphone or any smartphone for that matter. “It “never runs out of battery,” so it allows for endless creative play. If that wasn’t enough to get you interested, just consider the fact that the Lego Fold costs $69.99, while the Galaxy Fold will be priced at $1,980. How’s that for a flagship killer, ha!

Hangouts App For Wear OS Bites The Dust

Google has been gradually moving away from Hangouts over the past couple of years. It will be transitioning G Suite users from the classic Hangouts service this year. The same change would also be made for individual users after that. Hangouts continues its march towards its eventual demise as the Wear OS app now bites the dust.

This was to be expected as Google is transitioning from this service. Therefore, it would make no sense for the company to maintain an app for its wearable device platform when it’s moving users away from the service.

That’s why the Hangouts app is no longer available for Wear OS devices. You will not be able to install it on one should you try to do so, either from the wearable device itself or from the web interface of the Play Store. The web interface actually shows Hangouts as incompatible with Wear OS now.

The classic service is being done away with in favor of separate services for text and video chat called Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet. So it goes without saying that there will be revisions for Wear OS apps and these services would eventually arrive on the wearable platform as well. Just when that’s going to happen remains to be seen as Google hasn’t said anything about it so far.
