JetBlue Gives You A Chance To Win Free Flights For Wiping Your Instagram

Instagram is one of the most widely used social networks out there. Many of its users live their lives on the network, uploading pictures of their breakfast to their workouts and everything in between. JetBlue’s latest promotion involves having users break their Instagram habit. The contest provides three lucky winners the chance to fly free for a year provided they wipe their Instagram account.

The rules of this promotion mention that you have to completely wipe your Instagram account and then post a picture which promotes the airline. The picture is to be uploaded using a hashtag based on the airline’s template on a completely blank Instagram account.

The profile must be public so that the airline’s marketing department can see it. The entries have to be posted before March 8th, 2019. The airline doesn’t say why it’s making contestants wipe their Instagram but does mention that they can archive their posts instead of deleting them outright. There’s no bar on posting Stories so users can continue to use that feature.

It wouldn’t be a promotion if there was no caveat. Only three winners will be chosen from the entries received for this contest. Those who win will be required to pay the individual taxes and fees on each “free” flight that they take with JetBlue.

Uber Rewards Now Available To All U.S. Riders

The Uber Rewards loyalty program was introduced in January this year. The feature was initially rolled out to riders in select cities like San Francisco. It calculated how much they have spent on Uber and Uber Eats in the last six months and awards perks such as no-fee cancellations if they rebook, free car upgrades, and more. Uber is now rolling out the rewards program to all riders in the United States.

Like all loyalty programs, the idea behind this initiative is to ensure that riders stay loyal to Uber and not take their business to its competitors. To incentivize that, Uber Rewards offers them one point for every dollar spent on UberPool, Uber Eats, and Express Pool.

Once enough points have been accumulated, riders can reach rewards levels like Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. They will require at least 7,500 points for Diamond. Its perks include priority pickups at airports, free delivery on Uber Eats orders, and more. The basic Blue level offers $5 in Uber cash for every 500 points accumulated, so there’s something for everyone.

All riders in the United States can now take part in the ride-hailing service’s loyalty program. They can go over to Uber’s website to sign up for the rewards program right away. Uber has said that it will count every eligible dollar spent on Uber and Uber Eats in the six months prior to enrolling for the program.

Recycling Is Broken

In Philadelphia, people like to recycle. Together, all 1.6 million of us generate about 400 tons of recyclable material each day. But since last fall, roughly half of the bottles and cans my neighbors and I dutifully place curbside in our blue bins every week haven’t made their way to a sorting facility. They’ve gone…

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Burnt Horizon Release Date Confirmed

Rainbow Six Siege players have been waiting for Operation Burnt Horizon to arrive ever since the new patch landed on the Technical Test Server two weeks ago. It has definitely been a considerable wait for them and they will be happy to know now that Operation Burnt Horizon will be rolling out to players tomorrow, March 6th.

The full patch notes mention that Operation Burnt Horizon brings two new Aussie operators, Gridlock and Mozzie. Season Pass owners will be able to unlock these Operators immediately and get exclusive access for seven days. Once these seven days are up, all players will be able to unlock these Operators with Renown or R6 credits.

Outback is the new map that’s included in this release. It pays homage to the Australian outback and all of the lonely service stations and motels that run along the forgotten highways. Ubisoft mentions that fan-favorite Oregon and Clubhouse naps were the inspiration when designing the 21st map of the game.

The Outback map is divided into three separate sections – the Garage, Motel, and Restaurant. Much effort has been put during the development process to ensure that each of the sections is easily recognizable even from a distance. The gameplay style is similar to what players have already been used to. There will be only one door between each of the sections with roamers being able to create new paths by destroying walls.

The patch also brings several bug fixes for the game and will be used to consolidate the file size of the Rainbow Six Siege which is at a massive 81GB currently.

Roku Devices Can Now Be Controlled With Alexa

Roku has added support for yet another voice assistant to its streaming hardware. The company announced support for the Google Assistant just last fall and it has now done the same for Amazon’s Alexa. It will now be possible for Roku users to control their devices using voice commands given to Alexa.

Once the new Roku skill is installed, users will be able to control their Roku streaming devices and Roku TVs with voice commands such as “Alexa, open Netflix on Roku.” The voice commands will allow users to launch apps, pause content, or search for something they want to see.

It will also be possible to turn Roku TVs on and off, adjust the volume, and even change the inputs. It’s pertinent to mention here that users must say “Roku TV” in every command and not just “the TV” for this to work. If an antenna is connected to the Roku TV, voice commands can also be used to tune to specific channels.

With Alexa and Google Assistant having the same consistent functionality with regards to controlling Roku’s hardware, the company mentions that users shouldn’t find that there’s something that one assistant can do which the other can’t. Users will obviously require an Alexa-enabled device like the Amazon Echo to take advantage of this new skill.

Corning Is Developing Flexible Glass For Foldable Displays

You’d want the displays on foldable smartphones to be robust because one can only imagine what the repair cost on those screens would be. Corning has a long history of providing manufacturers with durable cover glass under its Gorilla Glass brand. The company has now revealed that it’s developing a bendable version of glass which will be well suited for smartphones with foldable displays.

Corning general manager John Bayne told Wired that this version of the cover glass could be fit for use in foldable smartphones in under two years. He added that it was a major challenge for the company to create a glass that’s thin enough that it bends but still has the adequate resilience required to protect the display underneath.

Bayne mentioned that Corning is looking at a “3- to 5-millimeter bend radii” for its 0.1mm thick glass. That would enable a foldable smartphone to be 6mm to 10mm thin with the folding Gorilla cover glass wrapped around the outside. “The technical challenge is, can you keep those tight 3- to 5-millimeter bend radii and also increase the damage resistance of the glass. That’s the trajectory we’re on,” he said.

Recently unveiled devices like the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X use plastic screens to achieve the form factor and their scratch resistance is something that remains as yet untested in the real world.

Full Dark Mode Arrives For Windows 10 Mail App

Those who use the Mail app in Windows 10 today might want to grab the latest update for this app. Microsoft is rolling out a more comprehensive dark mode for the Mail app which includes the dark hue for the email portion of the app. It’s a change from the previous behavior where the app would show a white background in emails instead of a black one. This would allow for an improved user experience.

Since some email content could possibly be obscured when the full dark mode is enabled, Microsoft has added a toggle in the app so that users can easily switch between the dark and light backgrounds in the body of emails.

The toggle and this dark mode itself is similar to the one available in Outlook.com. Microsoft added it to the service in July last year and it’s now matching it in the Mail app for Windows 10. There’s already a full dark mode for the calendar portion for the Mail app while the Calendar app for Windows 10 also has a full dark mode as well.

Microsoft is now rolling out the latest update for the Mail app in Windows 10. Interested users can download it from the Microsoft Store.
