Samsung Could Supply Displays For Apple’s Rumored Foldable iPhones

According to various patent filings, it would all seem to suggest that Apple could be exploring the idea of a foldable phone. This shouldn’t really come as a surprise as Apple probably wants to see if such a device is viable, but it might not necessarily indicate that the company will actually make such a device themselves.

However according to a report from Korean publication ET News, it seems that Apple could actually be moving forward with such a device. The publication claims that Samsung (who has recently launched a foldable device of their own) will apparently be sending Apple some samples of foldable displays.

It is unclear if these samples were requested by Apple or if Samsung was simply sending some over for Apple to test and to see if they might be interested. However this still doesn’t mean that Apple will produce a foldable smartphone. This is because at the moment the concept of foldable phones has yet to be truly proven which means that Apple might not necessarily want to get in on the action on a concept that could prove to be a flop.

Either way we should get a better idea later this year as Samsung and Huawei are expected to release their foldable devices, and hopefully the reviews will be illuminating on the potential of such devices.

Ultimate Ears Will Let Users Custom-Design Their Boom 3 Speakers

Ultimate Ears’ Boom 3 speakers come in a variety of color and design options for users to choose from. For the most part they are pretty funky in terms of design and with the variety offered, there should be something for everyone. However if you’re interested in creating one that’s truly unique, you’re in luck.

This is because Ultimate Ears has launched the MyBoom Studio which is where users will be able to customize their Boom 3 speakers to their liking. Note that this only applies to the design of the speaker, which means that the speaker itself will remain the same Boom 3 model that you might already be familiar with.

This includes Bluetooth connectivity along with water and dust resistance. In terms of customizability, users will be able to choose from 8 colors and 12 different fabrics for the body, caps, and volume buttons to truly create something unique to them. However this also means that the speakers will be more expensive than the regular Boom 3 speakers and will be priced at $180, around $30 higher.

If this sounds like a set of speakers you might be interested in, then head on over to the MyBoom Studio’s website to start customizing your speakers.

AirPods 2 Will Charge To Full In 15 Minutes

Given the size of the AirPods, it means that their included batteries are pretty small which also means that charging them to full won’t take as long compared to a phone, tablet, or laptop. According to Apple’s current speeds, it will take the AirPods 15 minutes of charging to add an extra 3 hours of battery life, which is pretty decent.

However according to a rumor shared on Twitter by Max Weinbach, that could change with the AirPods 2 where it could feature even faster charging than before. According to Weinbach, he claims that the new AirPods will actually charge from 0 to 100% in as little as 15 minutes! If true then this represents a significant upgrade over its predecessor.

What’s even more unbelievable is that Weinbach claims that the new AirPods will achieve those speeds using wireless charging. We know that Apple has been working on a wireless charging case for the AirPods, so that bit isn’t news. However wireless charging has been known to be slower compared to wired, so the fact that the AirPods 2 charges faster than its predecessor using wireless charging does raise some eyebrows.

It is possible that Apple’s AirPower charging mat could offer supercharged wireless charging speeds, hence the delays, but either way it’s probably best to take it with a grain of salt for now. It could also be a good idea to hold off on the first-gen AirPods as the AirPods 2 is said to be close to being announced.

Sony PlayStation Vita Production Has Officially Come To An End

In the console space, there is Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, each of whom have their own home console device. However when it comes to handhelds, that space was pretty much a fight between Nintendo and Sony, although it seems that now Sony could finally be conceding that market to Nintendo entirely.

This is because Sony has officially ended the production of its PlayStation Vita console. We had previously heard that Sony would be winding down production, and it looks like it has finally come to an end. The PS Vita was launched back in 2011 which means that it has been around for about 8 years or so, although in the past few years, Sony hasn’t really done much with it.

It is unclear if Sony has plans to eventually come back with a new handheld, but last we heard, we probably shouldn’t expect to see anything anytime soon. These days gamers have smartphones and the games on our mobile devices are also becoming increasingly complex, turning our mobile devices into proper gaming machines.

Nintendo is also doing pretty well on the mobile front and have been releasing games for their smartphones. However their 3DS handhelds have also been doing well, and the Nintendo Switch which has the ability to double up as a handheld console.

Facebook Cracking Down On Companies Selling Fake Accounts

If you’ve ever received a spam message on Facebook or get a friend request from a suspicious-looking account, chances are it is a fake account. These fake accounts are used for spam purposes or in some cases used to phish for account information or other types of sensitive personal information.

The good news is that Facebook is doing something about it as the company has recently filed a lawsuit in the US Federal court where they are taking four companies and three individuals to task for selling and promoting fake accounts. These companies were also selling fake followers and also fake likes, where such actions could artificially cause a post to look like it is doing better than it really is.

According to the company, they are hoping that with this lawsuit, they will be able to send a message and “reinforce that this kind of fraudulent activity is not tolerated.” Facebook isn’t alone in dealing with fake accounts as other platforms such as Twitter and Instagram are also running into similar issues.

More recently Amazon themselves had a victory of sorts when the FTC managed to settle a case on fake reviews left on products. That being said, we doubt that fake accounts can ever truly be banned, but hopefully these legal proceedings will set a precedent where companies who engage in such behavior will realize that the cost of a lawsuit will be more than what they might be able to make from such activities.
