Google Clock app lets Pandora and YouTube Music wake you up

While all Android clock apps have a built-in selection of alarms, some prefer to personalize what they wake up to each day. Over time, however, you may become desensitized to that all too familiar sound. Fortunately, Google’s Clock app for Android does over a pinch of spontaneity and randomness by letting you select a Spotify playlist or album. With the … Continue reading

Chronic sleep deprivation throughout the working week is a problem impacting millions of people. The health consequences of not getting enough sleep are well-known, but less clear are the ramifications of a disordered, inconsistent sleep schedule. Snoo Saved My Sanity in the Early Newborn Chaos

Not Even a Wild Original Series Connection Could Save Star Trek: Discovery From Itself

In a hard swerve from the first season, Star Trek: Discovery’s sophomore outing has been a lot happier to leave its overarching story with Spock simmering in the background as it focused on mostly standalone, classically Star Trek tales. It’s worked great so far, but tonight’s episode tried to have it both ways, and…

Xiaomi Will Be Holding Back On Launching A Foldable Phone For Now

At MWC 2019, Xiaomi launched a couple of new phones such as the Mi 9 and the Mi Mix 3 5G. However if there was one type of device missing from Xiaomi’s lineup, it would be a foldable device. We say that this is a bit odd as other companies such as Samsung and Huawei were more than happy to launch such devices.

Unfortunately for those hoping to see Xiaomi launch a foldable phone, it appears that the company will be holding off for now. This is according to Donovan Sung, the company’s global spokesperson and director of product management who spoke to VentureBeat in an interview where he discussed some of Xiaomi’s plans for the future.

According to Sung, it seems that Xiaomi is waiting for the market to mature a bit before they launch their foldable handset. “In terms of the specific launch time for this, I think we’d want to wait for it to be more mature before we announce that. But rest assured, we are trying a variety of different foldable concepts.”

We know some might be surprised because it wasn’t too long ago that Xiaomi’s president uploaded a video showing him using a foldable handset. However it could be similar to what Oppo has done, where the company does have a working prototype but are waiting for the market to mature or for demand to increase before forging ahead with its production.

Amazon Day Lets Prime Members Schedule Their Deliveries

We use a variety of products in our everyday lives, whether it be food items, personal care items, and so on. This means more often than not, we eventually run out of them and will need to replenish them. If you’re the sort that prefers doing all their shopping online, then Amazon might have a new feature that you might want to check out.

The company has recently launched what they are calling Amazon Day (not to be confused with Amazon Prime Day). Basically this is a new service aimed at Prime members where they will be able to schedule their deliveries. This means that Prime members can choose a day in the week and on that day, all their deliveries will be sent at once. If you know that that’s the only day you’ll be free to receive packages, then you can schedule all your deliveries for that day, instead of your orders arriving separately one at a time.

According to Maria Renz, Vice President, Delivery Experience at Amazon, “Amazon Day adds another level of convenience to the many shipping benefits Prime members already enjoy. Prime members can now choose to get their orders delivered together in fewer boxes whenever possible on the day that works best for them. We’ve been testing this program with a group of Prime members and Amazon Day has already reduced packaging by tens of thousands of boxes – a number that will only continue to grow now that the program is available to Prime members nationwide.”

Amazon has been trying to make themselves into a more sustainable company by reducing the number of boxes that they use, and as Renz states, this has resulted in tens of thousands of boxes saved to date.

Google Maps Launches Complaint Form For Fraudulent Business Info

There are probably a good many of us who rely on Google Maps for information about a business, such as its location, opening hours, the type of business, phone number, and so on. More often than not, the information listed is usually pretty accurate, but sometimes the information can be wrong or outright fake.

This is why Google has launched a complaint form (via Search Engine Land) where users can submit complaints about possible fraudulent business info on Google Maps. According to Google, “If you come across misleading information or fraudulent activity on Google Maps related to the name, phone number, or URL of a business, you may use this form to submit a complaint. Complaints submitted through this form will be reviewed in accordance with our guidelines for representing businesses on Google Maps.”

Google also notes that even though the form can be filled up and submitted by anyone, it’s not necessarily a guarantee that your complaint will be addressed. Naturally Google would need to do some fact checking themselves to ensure that your submission is valid since we imagine that maybe some competitors could be looking to sabotage the business of others through such methods. In any case the form is live and if you’re hoping to do your part for your local community and businesses, it could be worth checking out.
