WhatsApp To Get Dark Mode On Android

Beta versions of WhatsApp for Android often reveal the new features and improvements that are in development. The latest beta has now been submitted and version 2.19.82 reveals that a dark mode is being developed for the Android app. This feature is obviously not available for everyone just yet.

There has been sort of a dark mode awakening among app developers over the past couple of months. Many popular apps have been updated with support for the darker theme. Facebook-owned WhatsApp is evidently making a similar move.

Since the feature is under development, it’s not immediately available for everyone. The folks at WABetaInfo spotted this development in the latest beta release of the app. The mode has only been implemented in the Settings menu so far.

So while there are screenshots of the dark theme being applied to the Settings menu, we don’t get to see any chat windows with the dark theme, because that hasn’t been enabled as yet. WhatsApp might do that in the coming beta builds of the Android app.

As for when the dark mode is going to be released to the public, well that might take some time, but at least users can now rest assured that this will happen sooner rather than later.

AT&T Stores To Offer Magic Leap One Demonstrations From Next Week

The Magic Leap One mixed reality headset started shipping back in August last year. It was also confirmed that AT&T will provide data for the headset and that it will also be the exclusive wireless distributor for Magic Leap products. That has led to the company “exclusively” selling the headset through its stores and also offering demonstrations.

You could have picked up a Magic Leap One in August last year or at any point after that. The exclusive element to AT&T’s announcement is the in-store availability. So you don’t have to wait for a shipment to arrive, just walk into an AT&T store and walk out with the headset.

It will be possible for customers to try out the headset in three AT&T flagship stores. The demo will have them taking on a White Walker in Game of Thrones. Customers will be able to experience and purchase the headset from its flagship stores in Boston, Chicago and San Francisco on April 1st, April 3rd, and April 6th respectively.

AT&T will also be selling the mixed reality headset online starting April 5th. It costs the same $2,295 that you’d have to pay if you were to buy the Magic Leap One from its manufacturer directly.
