Fast food chain Burger King started selling a meatless version of its popular Whopper burger as part of a trial run earlier this month. The Impossible Whopper was available at 59 locations in the St. Louis area. Burger King has now announced that it’s now going to sell the Impossible Whopper nationwide.
Burger King makes the Impossible Whopper with plant-based patties from food startup Impossible Foods. The patties are not only designed to look like real meat but also taste like it. These burgers also have 15 percent less fat and 90 percent less cholesterol compared to a regular Whopper.
Impossible Foods developed its meatless burger as it’s on a mission to reduce the food supply chain’s reliance on animal agriculture. The taste experiments conducted by Burger King showed that most customers and employees were not able to tell the difference between the two patties. The fast food chain has confirmed today that it’s going to start testing the Impossible Whopper in additional markets before rolling it out nationwide before the end of this year.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the meatless Whopper burger is going to cost about a dollar more than its beef counterpart. It’s going to be topped with mayonnaise which would make it unsuitable for vegans.

A new partnership between YouTube and the MLB has been announced today which will see the former exclusively live streaming 13 MLB games on both YouTube and YouTube TV. This will be during the second half of the regular baseball season. This is not the first time that YouTube has teamed up with MLB, it’s already a presenting partner for the ongoing World Series. However, this does happen to be YouTube’s first exclusive live game partnership with the MLB.
The dates and schedules of these games haven’t been confirmed at this point in time. The company says that it will provide that information in a few weeks. It did mention that the 13 games will be exclusively available to viewers in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada for free through the MLB YouTube Channel. A dedicated channel will be launched on YouTube TV for this.
The live coverage will include a pre-game and post-game show in addition to MLB and YouTube content from popular creators. YouTube hasn’t confirmed which content producers it may be working on to promote this partnership. All of the games will be produced and enhanced for the online video streaming website by the MLB’s Network’s production team.
“With Major League Baseball’s expanding international fanbase, we are confident YouTube’s global audience will bring fans around the world together in one place to watch the games and teams they love,” YouTube’s Head of Sports and News Partnerships Timothy Katz said in a statement.
