Man Proves In Court His Hash Brown Wasn’t A Smartphone

As many of you know, it is illegal to drive while using your smartphone. However, a man by the name of Jason Stiber has decided to fight the ticket that was given to him in court, and after a long 13-month legal battle and what could possibly have amounted to thousands of dollars in legal fees, he has cleared his good name.

According to the judge presiding over the case, Stiber was found not guilty of distracted driving. For those who are wondering what happened, in 2018, Stiber was pulled over by the police for allegedly drive while distracted. The police had claimed that Stiber had an object next to his face that they claimed was a cellphone. Stiber, on the other hand, insisted that he was simply eating a hash brown.

Unwilling to pay the $300 ticket, which essentially would cement his “guilt”, Stiber decided to fight the ticket and through a Freedom of Information Act request, he managed to get his hands on records that proved that the officer that pulled him over was working the 15th hour of a 16-hour shift. Stiber argued that this meant that the officer’s judgement could have been impaired as a result of having worked for such a long shift.

Speaking to The Washington Post, Stiber spoke of his victory, “That’s why I did it, because I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through this. Other people don’t have the means to defend themselves in the same way.”

Google’s Pixel 3a Smartphone Spotted On Geekbench

Google is expected to launch the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL next week, and it looks like at least one of the handsets has made an appearance on Geekbench, giving us a glimpse as to what we might be able to expect in terms of hardware specs. Of course, it should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but it does sound about right in terms of what to expect.

According to the Geekbench listing, it shows how the phone is being powered by a Qualcomm octa-core processor accompanied by 4GB of RAM. The rumors have long suggested that the Pixel 3a series will be a budget version of the Pixel lineup, and as such the Qualcomm chipset used has been rumored to be the Snapdragon 670.

As we said, this will be a budget version of the Pixel smartphones so if you’ve always wanted a more “pure” Android experience on a budget, these handsets could be it. It remains to be seen if Google plans on doing this for future Pixel smartphones, but we have to say that it does come at a rather odd time.

This is because Google is expected to launch the Pixel 4 later this year, so by launching the Pixel 3a at this point in time could have customers confused. Either way, the handset has been hinted at for a 7th of May launch, so check back with us next week if you’d like the details.

Samsung Has A TV That Lets You Watch Videos In Portrait Mode

The way our smartphones are designed, more often than not a lot of us record videos in portrait mode. This results in our videos, when watch on the computer, featuring thick black borders at the side to compensate for shooting it in portrait mode. However, Samsung thinks that they might have the answer to that problem.

The company has recently taken the wraps off a new TV that they’re calling the Sero. This is a TV that can be oriented in either horizontal or vertical position, meaning that in the event that you encounter a video that’s been shot in portrait mode, you can just spin your spin around and watch it without having to deal with the black bars on the side.

The TV will feature a 43-inch display and will use quantum-dot QLED display technology. There will also be a built-in 4.1 channel audio system, 60 watt speakers, and as expected of Samsung, Bixby will also be part of the TV. It is expected to be released in Korea next month where it will be targeted at millennials who might have $16,000 to spare. Whether or not it’ll find its way stateside remains to be seen, but to be honest, $16,000 does seem a bit expensive, but then again we guess you’d be paying for the novelty.
