The Sony A7 is the only full-frame camera on our affordable list. There’s no doubt Sony changed the mirrorless-camera game when it introduced its A7 in 2013. Six years later, while it isn’t the most powerful full-frame mirrorless anymore, the A7 is s…

It was reported recently that Instagram might try out hiding public like counts on posts and the Facebook-owned company has now confirmed that it’s indeed considering such a test. Instagram confirmed at the F8 developers’ conference today that a new feature will enter trials this week which will hide users’ public like counts on photos and videos. This test will initially be limited to users in Canada.
What that means is that the likes will not be displayed in the Feed, permalinked pages, and on profiles. Instagram says that the reasoning behind this whole this is to “focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get.” Only the account holder will be able to see the likes that their content gets, no other viewer will be shown the count.
An earlier report had said that Instagram was developing a feature which would hide public like counts. A spokesperson for the company had said at that time that “We’re not testing this at the moment, but exploring ways to reduce pressure on Instagram is something we’re always thinking about.”
Instagram isn’t saying at this point in time if it has any plans of testing this new feature in other places across the globe. It can prove to be useful, though, as much of the social media sharing these days revolves around racking up those numbers.

Oculus fans have long been waiting to find out when the company is going to release its Rift S and Quest headsets. The wait will soon be over for them. The company has confirmed today that both headsets will begin shipping in 22 countries starting next month. Customers are able to pre-order them starting today for $399.
Oculus Rift S is an updated model of the Oculus Rift which came out in 2016. It replaces the previous model’s tracking cameras with inside-out tracing. Some other improvements have been made so that the device is more comfortable to wear overall.
The Oculus Quest is the company’s long-awaited standalone virtual reality headset which was unveiled last year. It doesn’t need a separate computer or external tracking cameras to function as it relies only on its Snapdragon mobile processor.
As has been the case with previous headsets from the company, the Oculus Rift S and Quest will be sold through the company’s online store in addition to several retail partners which include the likes of Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. GameStop will sell the Quest while Microsoft will be selling the Rift S. Pre-orders are open today and those who want one can now get their orders in. Facebook Messenger has seen incredible improvement and growth ever since Facebook made the decision to unbundle it from the main app. The functionality has been enhanced considerably over the past few years and the company is now fulfilling a consistent demand from users. It’s going to release a dedicated Facebook Messenger app for the desktop.
Facebook confirmed at its F8 conference today that it’s going to bring its super popular messaging client to both Windows and Mac this year. Currently, most people who want to access
Facebook Messenger on their desktop do so using the web browser.
It’s no surprise that the app is coming so much later after the mobile apps. They obviously have first priority in this day and age when mobile devices far outnumber computers. However, the Facebook Messenger app for Windows and Mac will serve as yet another avenue for the company to ensure that people spend their time inside its ecosystem throughout their day.
“People want to seamlessly message from any device, and sometimes they just want a little more space to share and connect with the people they care about most,” Facebook said of the app in a statement. The app will get all of the familiar functionality which includes group video calls, audio calls, and more.
