Given that EV charging stations aren’t quite as ubiquitous as gas stations at the moment (they are slowly getting there), it means that it isn’t quite as convenient or simple for EV car owners to recharge their cars. To make things worse, there have been reported instances of how some gas car owners who park their cars at EV charging stations.
We’re not sure if this is done to troll EV car owners or just being inconsiderate, but it could soon be illegal to do so. During a recent general assembly, a new bill was passed in Colorado where if it is made into law, it would fine gas powered car owners for parking in spots designated to be used for EV charging. This would hit car owners who are not actively charging their cars with fine of $150 along with a surcharge of $32.
This would also apply to EVs who have already fully charged their cars but still don’t move their vehicles to make way for other EV car owners who might need to use the charging station. The text of the bill reads, “An electric vehicle is rebuttably presumed to not be charging if the electric vehicle is parked in a charging station and is not electrically connected to the charger for longer than 30 minutes. A person may park an electric vehicle at a charging station after the electric vehicle is fully charged in a parking lot.”
This would not only discourage the act of “ICEing” but it would help reduce congestion and crowding at EV charging stations, where the fine might deter car owners from hogging charging stations even after their cars have been fully charged.

A couple of weeks ago following the speculation that Apple’s 5G iPhones could be delayed to 2021 due to their apparent difficulty in sourcing components. Intel was said to be the company to supply Apple with 5G modems, and the company came forward to claim that everything was going according to plan.
However, just a week after their announcement, Intel made another (shocking) announcement, and this time it was about the company deciding to give up on its 5G modem project. Now according to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the company has since confirmed that their decision was a direct result of Apple and Qualcomm settling their lawsuit, with Qualcomm now expected to supply the tech to Apple for their 5G needs.
According to Intel’s CEO Bob Swan, “In light of the announcement of Apple and Qualcomm, we assessed the prospects for us to make money while delivering this technology for smartphones and concluded at the time that we just didn’t see a path.” For the past few years, Intel has been supplying modems to Apple, and while the company is expected to continue to do so for LTE mobile devices, it appears that they will be skipping on 5G.
The company hasn’t had much luck with regards to mobile devices. Intel has in the past attempted to challenge Qualcomm with mobile chipsets of their own, although that did not quite take. The company then found some success by supplying modems, but with the shift now moving towards 5G, it seems that success will be shortlived.

With all the hype surrounding Avengers: Endgame, especially after the way Infinity War ended, it’s not surprising that the movie was high-anticipated and watch by many around the world. As such, it is also not surprising to learn that Endgame has since managed to smash the global box office record.
According to the numbers, the movie has managed to earn $644 million in worldwide ticket sales during its opening weekend, and with the weekend still not yet over, there is a good chance that it could make a lot more by Monday. The previous record holder was Infinity War which managed $641 million, so it looks like even though pirated bootleg copies of the movie had leaked online pretty early, it didn’t seem to have had much of a negative impact on the movie’s success.
So far the movie has received extremely favorable reviews, with many praising the efforts of Marvel for creating something that no one else had done. The movie has also done especially well in China where the movie has made $217 million to date. In the US, the movie is poised to do even better where it has made $156.7 million to date, with Disney predicting that it could hit $310 to $340 million by the end of the first three days.
It remains to be seen if Endgame will have what it takes to beat the likes of Avatar which still holds the title as the highest-grossing movie at $2.78 million, although from what we can tell, it seems that there is a chance it might have a fighting chance against Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Titanic, both of which managed $2.06 and $2.18 billion respectively.

Like a lot of medical conditions, early detection can either help to cure the problem, or it could help patients deal with the issue a lot earlier which can also help improve their overall quality of life. We’ve seen how some researchers are trying to find ways of detecting Alzheimer’s early, and now a new study has suggested that maybe a video game could actually do a much better job.
In a recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, it used a game called Sea Hero Quest to detect Alzheimer’s in patients. How they managed to detect the disease was by seeing how players navigated the game, where they had to use their thumbs to move a boat through a series of mazes.
Patients who might have a genetic risk at Alzheimer’s were found to take less efficient routes compared to those who had a lower risk. According to the researchers, the use of the game helped speed up their study where two minutes of game time was found to be equivalent of about five hours worth of lab researcher, meaning that researchers were getting information at a much, much faster rate.
According to lead researcher Michael Hornberger, “Current diagnosis of dementia is strongly based on memory symptoms, which we know now are occurring when the disease is quite advanced. Instead, emerging evidence shows that subtle spatial navigation and awareness deficits can precede memory symptoms by many years.”

We’ve always known that drones could be used for delivery purposes, where in some countries such a in Australia, we’ve seen how drones are being used to deliver coffee. In fact, it had also been suggested that drones could also potentially be used to deliver organs in instances where emergency transplants had to be done.
Now over at the University of Maryland Medical Center, it looks like drones have been used for such purposes where the first-ever organ delivered by drone was successfully transplanted into a patient who had kidney failure. The use of drones was initiated by Dr. Joseph Scalea who was frustrated at the current method of organ delivery, where they were costly and slow, leading to the organs deteriorating while in transit.
According to Scalea, “This new technology has the potential to help widen the donor organ pool and access to transplantation. Delivering an organ from a donor to a patient is a sacred duty with many moving parts. It is critical that we find ways of doing this better.” That being said, there is still quite a way to go before such transportation methods become mainstream.
This includes getting clearance from the FAA, in which officials have already expressed some interest, and also overcoming hurdles like getting waivers for use of drones at night. Scalea believes that by using drones, it could cut travel time by as much as 70%.

Apple’s iPhone XR is essentially a compromised version of the iPhone XS and XS Max, where it lacks certain hardware features such as an OLED screen and also the dual camera setup. However, despite those “limitations”, the iPhone XR has actually done pretty well for itself where it actually dominated iPhone sales in the US.
This suggests that Apple might have made a mistake with its pricing and that customers are willing to sacrifice certain features in order to save themselves a few hundred bucks. The good news is that if you’re planning on getting the second-gen iPhone XR, there is a chance that Apple could trickle down some iPhone XS/XS Max features to the handset, such as its dual camera design.
This is according to information out of China from suppliers who claims that the iPhone XR 2 could feature a dual camera setup similar to that of the iPhone X and XS. At the moment, the iPhone XR uses software to achieve the camera effects of the iPhone X and XS, but if the reports are true, that will no longer be the case for the second-gen model.
This is to be expected as we’re starting to see more mid-range handsets adopt features that were previously exclusive to flagships. Plus it also makes sense, as recent rumors are claiming that the iPhone 11 could feature a triple camera design, meaning that the feature could still be used to set the iPhone XR 2 apart from the iPhone 11.
