Apple Recalls Older AC Power Adapters Over Electric Shock Concerns

For Apple customers who live in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and/or Hong Kong, it seems that Apple has announced that they will be recalling their AC power adapters. This seems to stem from concerns that in rare cases, the AC power adapters might break and expose some of the components inside of it, which when touched, could cause electric shock to the user.

So far Apple claims to have learnt about six such incidents that have happened worldwide and are thus recalling the adapters. These adapters were made between 2003 and 2010 and were shipped with a variety of Mac and iOS devices, so if you do have an AC adapter that looks anything like the unit pictured above, then you should head on over to Apple’s website for the details.

According to Apple, “Affected three-prong wall plug adapters are white, with no letters in the inside slot where it attaches to an Apple power adapter. New adapters are white with gray on the inside portion that attaches to the power adapter.” Apple also notes that this does not affect the USB power adapters, so if you have that then you don’t have anything to worry about.

We should also point out that while the countries affected mention Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom, Malaysia was not part of the list despite sharing similar power outlets as the countries mentioned, so that could be worth taking note of just to be on the safe side.

3D Printed iPhone 11 Mockups Shows Us What To Expect

With last year’s iPhones being more or less a rehash of the iPhone X’s design, it is expected that Apple could introduce a new design for its iPhones this year. We don’t really know what to expect, although earlier, alleged production molds of the 2019 iPhones have given us a clue as to what we might be able to expect.

Now thanks to the folks at Mac Otakara, they have managed to get their hands on 3D printed models of the 2019 iPhones that clue us in a bit further. As the publication notes in their video, these 3D printed models aren’t actually the iPhone XI or XI Max, but rather they were printed based on leaked schematics which were believed to be accurate.

What this means is that you should probably take it with a grain of salt for now, although at the same time, we have to admit that they do look somewhat believable. The camera setup on the back of the phones also look somewhat familiar as they are similar to the previous leak, so at the very least the leaks and rumors are consistent.

Apart from the camera, the 2019 iPhones don’t look too different from last year’s models, and that any differences you see in the video above could simply be due to the 3D printing process. So if you were hoping for a major revamp, you might be disappointed.

Ford Applies Its Car Technology Into Creating A Self-Braking Trolley

Ford is a company that is known pretty much for their cars. The company has probably spent millions, if not billions, over the years investing into technology that could make its cars more appealing over the competition. However, these technologies don’t always have to be exclusive to cars.

The company has in the past explored some pretty far out ideas, like a kennel for dogs with noise-cancelling technology, so it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that their next invention comes in the form of a reimagining of the humble shopping cart that you can find at your supermarket.

What makes this trolley different from typical trollies is that it comes with self-braking technology. This is achieved by using Ford’s Pre-Collison Assist technology which comes in some of Ford’s cars. For those unfamiliar, this tech uses front-facing cameras and radar to detect objects in front of the car and will force the car to brake if the driver does not heed the warnings.

So by taking that tech and applying it to trollies, it will give parents some peace of mind when shopping at the supermarket, where they don’t have to worry about their kids taking the trollies and running into the back of their legs, into other people, or into the display shelves. We should note that this is merely a prototype and we doubt that we’ll start seeing supermarkets adopt them, but it is still a fun idea nonetheless.

Google Fit Finally Makes Its Way Onto The iPhone

On iOS devices, Apple has the Health app which allows users to track their health-related data collected from apps and devices like the Apple Watch. Google also has a similar health app in the form of Google Fit which was for Android devices, but now it looks like iOS users who want to use Google Fit will be able to do so.

Google has announced that years after launching Google Fit, that the fitness and health tracking app will now be available for iOS users. Now the good news is that it doesn’t appear to be an either-or choice between Health and Google Fit. This is because Google Fit will actually integrate with Apple Health and the Apple Watch, so it basically gives users another app to use.

In addition to tracking your health and activity, Google Fit will also come with features designed to motivate users to stay active. If you own an Apple Watch, then you might be familiar with this concept. Google Fit will use what Google calls “Move Minutes” and “Heart Points”, where the goal is to try and accumulate as many points as you can in the day.

If you’re the sort that loves to challenge themselves, then those features could be worth taking a look at. Google Fit is now available for download so if you’d like to take it for a spin, head on over to the App Store for the download.
