Verizon’s CEO Confirms Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Will Have 5G

Earlier this year, Samsung launched their Galaxy S10 handset in which one of the models came with support for 5G. That was Samsung’s first 5G smartphone and we doubt that it will be their last. At the same time, we expect that 5G availability in smartphones won’t be so common out of the gate.

This is because the tech isn’t widely available yet to lower-end chipsets, so right now 5G does seem like an exclusive to flagships. So much so that we can’t say we’re surprised to learn that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 could have support for 5G as well. Now this seems like it might be a rumor given that there is no official announcement yet, but it does come from a somewhat credible source: Verizon.

This was actually revealed by Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg during the company’s Q1 2019 earnings call in which he was quoted as saying, “The Note and the Galaxy coming this year will both have 5G.” As we said, his revelation doesn’t come as a surprise. In fact, what would actually be more surprising is if the Galaxy Note 10 did not come with 5G.

As The Verge points out, the Note 10 might actually be a more tempting buy compared to the Galaxy S10 5G. This is because the Note 10 will launch at a much later date in the year, giving the tech and 5G to mature a bit more. However, if you can’t wait, Verizon will be offering the Galaxy S10 5G.
