It has been reported quite a few times that Apple will introduce a system-wide dark mode with iOS 13. With just under a week to go until the Worldwide Developers Conference 2019, some leaked screenshots of iOS 13 have emerged online which confirm that the next major iteration of iOS will indeed feature a dark mode.
9to5Mac has obtained these screenshots which show dark mode running on iOS 13. It will be accessible from the Settings app as well as from an option in the Control Center so that users can quickly toggle it.
There won’t be any major visual change on the Home screen with the exception of the Dock as it will get a vibrant dark background once the mode is enabled. However, it’s likely that new wallpapers might be introduced for a more streamlined look when the dark mode is enabled.
Apps like Music will have a true black background when the mode is enabled which is going to look really nice particularly on iPhones with OLED displays. This may also deliver a slight improvement in the battery life since fewer pixels need to be lit up when such a theme is applied.
Expect Apple to talk more about all of this at WWDC 2019 which takes place next Monday.
