Faster Delivery Might Be Making It Worse For Our Environment

Fast delivery is all the rage these days, with companies such as Amazon offering deliveries that can be made in the next day or two. This is great because one of the downsides to shopping online is the wait time involved, where in the past customers would wait a week or maybe even two before their products arrived.

However, it seems that speedy deliveries could be causing a different problem. According to a recent study, it has been found that by offering up faster delivery options, it could actually be doing a disservice to the environment. The study has found that the amount of CO2 emissions have been up, and that they think that faster delivery services offered by FedEx, UPS, USPS, Amazon, Walmart, and so on might be to blame.

This is because in the past, why deliveries took so long is because companies would usually accumulate a bunch of orders before sending it out. This was done to cut the costs of shipping, but with customers now willing to pay more for speedier options, it means that shipping is done more frequently, and thus increasing the number of CO2 emissions in the process.

That being said, while the study does have a point, some shipping services are looking to do their bid for the environment as well. Companies such as UPS are looking to convert their diesel-powered trucks into electric ones, which in turn will help reduce CO2 emissions.

Mozilla Issues New Firefox Patch For Zero-Day Vulnerability

Just the other day, Mozilla issued a patch for a recently-discovered zero-day vulnerability discovered in its Firefox browser. Unfortunately, it turns out that was not the only security flaw that the browser had because according to a report from ZDNet, it seems that Mozilla has since released yet another security patch for another zero-day flaw.

This particular vulnerability was discovered and used to target Coinbase employees and other cryptocurrency organizations. This vulnerability was found to be actively exploited, so unlike some other zero-day flaws discovered in the past, this actually poses a threat to Firefox users, especially those who might be dealing in cryptocurrency.

The report claims that the attack would work when Coinbase employees would receive spear-phishing emails that would contain links to malicious websites. If those links were clicked and visited using the Firefox browser, it would then download and execute an info-stealer application that would be able to scrap data like browser passwords.

However, the good news is that the flaw has since been patched so all users need to do is ensure that they have the latest version of Firefox and they’ll be good. This should be both Firefox 67.0.4 and Firefox ESR 60.7.2.

Apple Reminds You That You Can’t Pay Your Tax With Apple Store Gift Cards

Apple’s gift cards can be used to purchase things digitally, such as apps, music, movies, and more. However, what it can’t do is pay your taxes. We suppose that is pretty obvious already but it seems that due to a recent spate in scam calls, Apple has been forced to remind customers that no, they can’t pay their taxes using Apple Store gift cards.

For those who are unfamiliar with the scam making its rounds, basically the victim will receive a call via a spoofed phone number that looks like it belongs to the IRS. The caller will tell the victim that they are from the IRS and that they have unpaid taxes that need to be settled otherwise they will face arrest.

As if that wasn’t enough to send people into a panic, the caller then tells the victim that they can settle their unpaid taxes by using gift cards bought from Apple. All they need to do is buy enough gift cards to cover the unpaid amount, give them the gift card codes over the phone, and their “debt” is settled.

As we said, it is pretty obvious that you cannot pay for your taxes using gift cards, but unfortunately, this is a scam that is still making its rounds not just in the US, but also other countries. The warning label can be found at the bottom of the gift cards where it warns users that this gift card cannot be used for payments outside of the US App Store, iTunes, or for taxes.

NBA 2K19 is so realistic it now shows unskippable ads

Some games like Minecraft are perfectly fine with stylized graphics. Others, however, want to be as close to reality as possible. That’s probably nowhere truer than with sports games, considering they pretty much try to recreate reality as faithfully as they can. It seem that 2K Games has gone over and beyond photorealistic graphics and is making NBA 2K19 as … Continue reading
