Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy TV Series Being Developed By Hulu

There will soon be a new version of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the comedic science fiction classic from Douglas Adams. Hulu is reportedly developing a new adaptation of the novel with Carlton Cuse and Jason Fuchs. This adaptation is said to be a “modern updating of the story.”

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy follows the story of Arthur Dent, an earthling, who finds out that his house is being destroyed to free up the way for a highway bypass and that the Earth has a similar situation. Ford Prefect, an alien who happens to be a writer for the galactic encyclopedia called The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, later rescues him.

The novel is an icon in British popular culture where it was first adapted as a radio comedy many years ago. The series of novels has been very successful as well, being translated in more than 30 languages.

Cuse and Fuchs will write, showrun, and executive produce the show for Hulu, according to Deadline, with Fuchs currently in the process of writing the pilot script. Fans of the series will certainly have high hopes from the modern adaptation of this British classic. It will be a while, though, before this show becomes available for streaming.
