Tinder Wants To Avoid Paying Google’s 30% Cut On Subscriptions As Well

If you’re distributing an app through the Google Play Store that has in-app purchases, best believe that Google will take a cut out of your earnings. The software giant keeps 30 percent of all in-app transactions conducted through the Play Store. However, some companies have been trying to work around it and Match Group, Tinder’s parent company, is one of them.

Bloomberg reports that in a bid to avoid paying Google a 30 percent cut on the in-app purchases for its subscriptions like Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold, Match Group will encourage users to enter their credit card details directly into Tinder’s systems. This is something we have seen Epic Games, Fortnite’s developer, do as well. It launched Fortnite for Android through its own downloadable launcher to avoid paying Google a 30 percent cut.

The report mentions that once users enter their credit card details into Tinder’s systems, the app will default to that payment method for all in-app purchases which would allow Tinder to by-pass the Play Store-backed transactions and thus will not have to pay Google a cut.

“At Match Group, we constantly test new updates and features to offer convenience, control and choice to our users,” Match Group spokesperson Justine Sacco said, adding that “We will always try to provide options that benefit their experience and offering payment options is one example of this.”

Razer Phone Android Pie Update To Arrive Soon

The first Razer Phone was very well received as it was a proper gaming phone with a unique 120Hz screen. The company’s software support for this device has left a lot to be desired, though. It’s still on Android Oreo and even the security patch is a year old. The company has now said that the Razer Phone Android Pie update is going to be out soon.

It’s an update that many Razer Phone owners are looking forward to. It brings a number of new features to the device in addition to important bug fixes. Razer hasn’t provided a concrete date as yet but confirms that the Android Pie update for the Razer Phone should be out soon.

Things have been much better for the Razer Phone 2 which was released in October last year. It received the Android 9 Pie update in February this year. The original Razer Phone came out in late 2017 and is still running Android 8.1 Oreo with a security patch from July 2018.

The Razer marketing team confirmed on Reddit that an Android Pie upgrade with the Android security patches is going to be released for the original Razer Phone “in coming weeks.” So while there may not be a concrete date as yet, at least users can rest assured that an update has been developed and that it will be out in due course.

Avengers: Endgame Overtakes Avatar To Become The Biggest Film Of All-Time

Given what a monumental hit Avengers: Endgame proved to be, it was expected that this film would top James Cameron’s Avatar from 2009 as the biggest film of all-time. Avatar has held the top spot for a decade now and has finally been overtaken by Avengers: Endgame, a fitting achievement for the movie that cap’s Marvel’s 22 movie arc which started back in 2008.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced at Comic-Con that Endgame is set to overtake Avatar as the biggest film of all-time. There was an approximate $500,000 difference between Endgame and Avatar which was closed over the weekend. Feige acknowledged the fans at Comic-Con, saying that “Thanks to you, Avengers: Endgame is the biggest film of all-time.”

Disney and Marvel Studios have been working hard to win this top spot that was held by 20th Century Fox, which incidentally happens to be a Disney property now. A slightly different version of Endgame was released in theaters late last month with the promise of a deleted scene, a tribute to Stan Lee, and an official post-credits scene.

Disney insiders and distributors were apparently apprehensive about the re-release taking Endgame over the line but apparently, it has been able to do what Disney and Marvel wanted.

Cool Stand Makes Your Apple Watch Look Like A Classic iPod

The classic iPod is one of the most iconic products that Apple has ever made. The design will forever hold a place in history to signify just how well the entire product was executed by the company. If you ever feel nostalgic about it, perhaps you may want to purchase a cool little stand which makes your Apple Watch look like a classic iPod.

That’s what the W6 stand from Elago does It’s a freestanding silicone molding that has a cutout for an Apple Watch charging puck. There’s a slot at the top where the Apple Watch is placed. The front cutout mimics the display of the classic iPod and users are able to see the time and date on the wearable device in nightstand mode.

Since the stand is made out of silicone, you don’t need to worry about scratching your precious Apple Watch when inserting or taking it out of the W6. Since the material is very bendable, it’s quite easy to insert the charging puck in there as well. The puck doesn’t come with the case, though, so just use the one you got with your Apple Watch.

Elago says that this case will work with all generations and sizes of the Apple Watch and at $12.99, it’s really not that expensive for those who still feel nostalgia for the classic iPod.
