2020 iPhone May Include A ToF Sensor

Manufacturers like Samsung have already shipped ToF sensors on some of their smartphones. We have set to see a Time of Flight sensor on an iPhone and that might very well happen next year. A new report claims that the 2020 iPhone will include a Time of Flight 3D sensor. The report says that Apple is working with its supplier to ensure that the sensor is ready in time for next year’s iPhone.

There were some rumors before which claimed that perhaps a ToF sensor might be introduced with the 2019 iPhone. It would have significantly improved the augmented and virtual reality experiences possible on an iPhone.

The report mentions that the sensor will just not be ready in time for the 2019 iPhone so the decision has been made to introduce it next year. It’s said that the ToF sensor will actually debut with the 2020 iPads before they arrive on the iPhone.

The 2020 iPhone will also be special for another reason. It’s widely believed that 2020 will be the year that we get the first 5G iPhone. Some Android manufacturers have already put 5G phones on the market but Apple seems to be waiting to let 5G networks mature a bit before it decides to sell a compatible iPhone.

Firefox Will Warn You If Saved Logins Surface In Data Breaches

Data breaches are an unfortunate reality of the modern age. Compromised data spreads very quickly in these circles and can cause headaches for affected users. To make sure that you take appropriate actions if you find yourself in such a position, Firefox will start to warn users if their saved logins surface in a data breach.

Mozilla says that Firefox will do this as part of a partnership with the Have I Been Pwned data breach site. Mozilla is linking up its independent Firefox Monitor service and the Lockwise password manager with the Firefox browser directly. This will enable the browser to inform you should your saved logins ever appear in a data breach.

The browser will scan the saved login names and password to check if they have been exposed in a data breach that’s listed on Have I Been Pwned. If it finds a match, Firefox will immediately inform the user and urge them to change their password.

This feature is only going to work for data breaches where passwords have been exposed and when the password in question was saved before the data breach it was exposed in. The browser’s upcoming protection report will also display stats for the number of data breaches that your stolen logins were involved in.

Spotify For iPad Finally Picks Up Multitasking Support

There’s some good news today for Spotify users on iPad. There’s a new update rolling out today for the Spotify app for iPad. The music streaming service has finally added multitasking support to the iPad version of its iOS app. This means that it gets support for features like Slide Over and Split View, a feature that Apple initially released back in 2015.

What this means is that users will no longer have to open a full screen version of the Spotify app if they want to browse for new music or switch through the songs via the pull down menu which was very limited in what it allowed users to do.

Slide Over can be used with this app by adding Spotify to the dock and then opening it when using another app. Spotify will then be launched as a Slide Over view which sits on top of the app that’s already running. Split View can be used by tapping and dragging the top of the Spotify window to the top of the tablet’s screen which will then be split between this app and the other.

This new update is now rolling out and is available for download right away from the App Store. 8.5.14.816 is the version number in question so if you’ve got that, your Spotify experience on the iPad is about to get a whole lot better.

First PUBG Official Story Trailer Has Been Released

Battle royale titles aren’t popular because of their back story. They’re popular because you’re dropped in a shrinking map with loads of other players to fight it out until you’re the last person standing. PUBG is looking to add a story element to the game, though, and the first trailer released to provide a sort of a story for the game takes things into a darker direction.

PUBG Corp has released this story trailer for the game as it prepares to launch the fourth season. It provides the first proper story element for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and one has to say, it’s darker than some would have expected it to be.

The trailer beings with a small child on Erangel which is the game’s first map. The child is the only survivor after a horrifying battle took place on the island. The trailer then skips quite ahead in the future where the boy has grown into a man who is flush with cash and organizes battle royale tournaments on Erangel.

The narrative here is considerably darker compared to that of Fortnite, PUBG’s biggest competitor, which has an overall cartoonish look and feel while it relies more on in-game events and environmental storytelling. PUBG Corp. is understandably doing the groundwork for the “original narrative experience” that’s being built for the game by Glen Schofield of Call of Duty fame.

Dedicated Fan Recreates Entire ‘The Office’ Set In Far Cry 5

The Office is one of those TV shows that never get old. It’s right up there with the likes of Friends and Seinfeld with the kind of following that it has. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that a very dedicated fan recreated the entire Dunder Mifflin office set in Far Cry 5 with incredible accuracy.

The Office has cemented its position in pop culture and will remain at the forefront for years to come. Fans never get tired of watching it and people who are new to it are quick to understand why it’s so loved by audiences across the globe.

Fans like Mojo Swoptops really take their love for the show the next level. This is the perfect example, the entire office set being recreated in Far Cry 5. The layout is instantly recognizable and there are some easter eggs as well such as a dropped pot of chili, Dwight’s exercise ball, and beer bottles underneath Meredith’s desk. It took 12 hours of work over 7 nights to recreate the set in Far Cry 5.

The game allows players to use an in-game map editor to build whatever their imagination comes up with and as a The Office fan, I’d say this was a pretty good use of the feature.

iPhone XR Was The Best Selling Smartphone In The U.S. Last Quarter

The iPhone XR appears to have received a lot of love in the United States. The latest data from Kantar World Panel reveals that it was the best selling smartphone in the country over the second quarter, accounting for 7.8 percent of the market. The top three best selling smartphones in the country last quarter were actually iPhones, the data shows.

According to Kantar’s data, the iPhone 8 and iPhone XS Max make up the top three best selling devices in the country in Q2 2019. Overall, Apple saw its sales share slide in the country as Motorola and Google have mounted a resurgence in this crucial market.

Motorola in particular has been enjoying good momentum in the country. Its sales share was up 3.3 percent compared to a year before. The top performing models were the Motorola E5 and G6 Plus. It was aided by increased distribution as Verizon was the top channel for Motorola’s smartphone sales.

Even though the United States and China are embroiled in a trade spat, iOS’s share actually increased in the People’s Republic this past quarter, reaching 19.7 percent. Huawei still remains the dominant force in its home country, though, with the company and its Honor brand accounting for almost one in every two sales in Urban China last quarter with a 46.1 percent share.
