Nintendo Switch Owners Are Reporting Issues Of Joy-Con ‘Drift’

One of the unique features of the Nintendo Switch are its controllers, the Joy-Cons, which are a set of detachable controllers that come with a variety of sensors and motors inside of them. However, it seems that they might not necessarily have the best build quality because according to users, they are running into an issue with them known as “drifting”.

Basically, there seems to be something wrong with the Joy-Cons in which even if the user is not touching the joystickers, the console will register it as moving. This was confirmed in a report by Kotaku’s Gita Jackson who wrote, “When I was in the combat screen, where the stick on the right Joy-Con controls the overhead angle of the camera, the camera angle would slowly drift until it was directly overhead.”

Jackson is not alone in experiencing this issue as other Kotaku staff members have similarly confirmed the issue themselves, along with many other gamers in a post on Reddit that got over 25,000 upvotes. While wear and tear seems to be the norm when it comes to hardware, some gamers claim to have only owned the console for a few months before the problems began to show.

It is unclear as to what the problem is, but in the meantime, Nintendo seems to be offering to fix it for gamers if they are willing to ship the controllers back to them.

Detective Pikachu Is The Highest-Grossing Video Game Movie Of All Time

Video game movie adaptations usually get a pretty bad rap for being not very good. However, it seems that Detective Pikachu has managed to break that mold because according to reports, the movie is now the highest-grossing video game movie of all time following sales that were generated this weekend.

According to the figures, the movie has managed to earn as much as $436 million worldwide. Breaking this down, the movie made $143.3 million in the US, while the rest of the money came from foreign markets. It was reported back in May that Detective Pikachu could be one of the most successful video game movies of all time, and now it looks like it has.

Reviews of the movie were largely positive, with many praising the film’s tone and story. It probably helped a lot that Ryan Reynolds was part of the cast in which the actor lent his voice to the Pikachu character, a first, when you consider that Pokemon in generally do not talk. It was also previously reported that a sequel to the movie has already been greenlit, although when exactly it will be released remains to be seen.

The film’s producer had also previously expressed interest in creating a Pokemon Cinematic Universe, similar to what Marvel has done with its Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Apple Card Could Be Launching As Soon As This week

Earlier this year, Apple announced the Apple Card. With Apple already embracing mobile payments with Apple Pay, it didn’t exactly come as a surprise to learn that the company would be launching their own credit card. There is no word on when the Apple Card will be launched, but now according a report from 9to5Mac, it could be launching as soon as this week.

This is based on an upcoming release of the seventh developer beta version of iOS 12.4, and also based on multiple anonymous sources that have reached out to the publication. It is unclear if it will be launching this week, but previously it was also reported that Apple had expanded the testing of the Apple Card amongst their employees, indicating that the Apple Card could indeed be getting close to launch.

For those who are unfamiliar, the Apple Card is Apple’s take on the credit card. It will be made out of titanium and will be supported at shops that accept credit cards. It will also be linked to the user’s Apple Pay account and is backed by Goldman Sachs. One of the advantages to the card is that it has no number and no CVV security code, making it more secure.

There is also no expiry date and there will also not be any late, annual, or international fees. It is set for a launch in the US first, although there are plans to eventually bring it to more markets in the future.

LG Pay launches in the US only on the G8 ThinQ

The hype around mobile payments has died down but the industry has more or less settled around a few key players like Apple Pay and Google Pay. Some OEMs like Samsung have also tried to jump on the bandwagon and LG wasn’t about to be left behind. That said, LG Pay has had very little coverage compared to Samsung Pay … Continue reading

Far From Home Still Has Only the Second Best Display of Mysterio's Schtick Outside of Comics

There is a moment in Spider-Man: Far From Home with Mysterio that is one of the most audaciously cool-looking things I’ve ever seen in a Marvel movie. But as good as it is, it still isn’t my favorite take on the character outside of comics.

CNN What Are You Doing???

CNN, a nominally respectable cable news network, invited an honest-to-god neo-Nazi on air today to represent those who think racism is good, actually, as part of a discussion about the president’s most recent racist meltdown. This is truly baffling, and it gets even worse when you see the actual segment.

Apple’s Iconic Rainbow Logo Could Be Making A Comeback

Back in the early days of Apple, the company employed the use of a rainbow Apple logo which quickly became iconic in its design. These days, the company has opted for a more simple and somewhat plain logo, but it seems that the rainbow Apple logo could soon be making a comeback.

This is according to a report from MacRumors who have heard from a source that Apple could be returning the rainbow logo to some of its products as early as this year. While it does sport a very iconic design, it is unclear how this will fit in with Apple’s existing products, all of which sport very clean and minimalistic looks.

Perhaps it could be used for a special edition of a product, like a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone. Or maybe it could be making a return in a Mac computer. After all, the logo did make its debut with Apple’s computers back in the day, so it does seem somewhat fitting that it could return to their Mac computers as well.

AppleWeb had also published an interview with the company’s former designer in chief, Jony Ive, who had expressed his interest in seeing the return of the logo. “There is the resonance with the rainbow logo that’s been part of our identity for many years. The rainbow is also a positive and joyful expression of some of our inclusion values and I think that one of the primary reasons the idea resonated so immediately and so profoundly with us was the form — the connection from an aesthetic design point of view. A semi-circle relates so beautifully and naturally to the form of the ring.”

In any case, take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll just have to wait and see if the report is true and if the rainbow logo could be making its long-awaited comeback.

Taika Waititi Expected To Return To Direct Marvel’s ‘Thor 4’

The first two Thor movies could be somewhat considered to be some of the weaker releases in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but then just when we were about to give up hope, Thor Ragnarok arrived helmed by director Taika Waititi and not only revitalized the franchise, but also seemed to provide a new direction for the character that was very different from the previous releases.

The good news is that if you’re a fan of Waititi’s take on Thor, you’ll be pleased to learn that a report from The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that the director is expected to make a return for the fourth installment in the Thor series of movies. There is no word on when the fourth Thor movie is expected to arrive, but it could probably be a while since there is no mention of Thor in the Phase 4 of the MCU.

We have to say that if the report is true, then there is a lot to look forward to. Thor Ragnarok managed to combine both humor and action seamlessly. Similar to how James Gunn helped set the tone that defined the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, it’s hard to imagine how the Thor series could move forwards without Waititi’s involvement.

Unlike some of the other characters such as Iron Man and Captain America, both of whom have been retired from the MCU, Thor is expected to remain, at least for the  foreseeable future. This is because there have been reports suggesting that Thor could be part of “Asgardians of the Galaxy”, thanks to way Avengers: Endgame had ended.
