As some of you know, Harley-Davidson has created its own electric motorcycle in the form of the LiveWire. As with electric vehicles, the LiveWire will require charging to keep it juiced up, but the good news is that if you’re the owner of a LiveWire or plan on buying one, you’ll be pleased to learn that Harley-Davidson has announced that these bikes will be eligible for free charging.
According to the company, “All participating authorized Harley-Davidson dealers selling the LiveWire model will offer a public DCFC charging station at their dealership. U.S. LiveWire customers will receive free charging on ChargePoint stations at participating LiveWire dealers for the first two years.”
As it stands, electric chargers are free to use, at least in some cases. Presumably, this because carmakers are looking to entice customers into adopting their vehicles and not having to worry about paying for charging, thus lowering the barriers of entry. We imagine that this is something Harley-Davidson is also trying to do, given that its LiveWire electric motorcycle is priced at nearly $30,000.
In the future, it is possible that charging stations might require a fee, similar to how we pay for gas, but for now, LiveWire owners who’d rather not charge their bikes at home can head on over to their nearby authorized dealers to juice up their rides.
