Sony Has Sold 100 Million PS4 Consoles To Date

It goes without saying that Sony’s PS4 console is one of the most popular consoles in the market today, and based on the latest figures, it looks like Sony has pretty much conquered this particular generation of consoles. This is because in the company’s latest earnings, they have revealed that they have sold a whopping 100 million PS4 consoles to date.

It has been reported that sales of the PS4 are actually slowing down, but in all honesty, it doesn’t really come as a surprise. This is because we are nearing the end of the current generation of consoles, where both Microsoft and Sony have actually confirmed that they do have next-gen consoles already in the works.

To date, Microsoft has yet to share the official sales figures of their Xbox One, but it’s probably safe to assume that Sony’s got this in the bag. The Nintendo Switch is also doing pretty well, where they have enjoyed certain accolades like being the best-selling console during Cyber Monday back in 2018.

Over in Japan, Nintendo also managed to surpass the PS4’s lifetime sales with the Switch, but that’s just for one market and we reckon Nintendo is definitely quite a long way away from catching up to Sony. It will be interesting to see how far Sony will get before the PS5 is released.

Huawei Enjoys 20% Increase In Phone Sales In Spite Of US Ban

Many assumed that Huawei would be in huge, huge trouble following the ban from the US in which the company would no longer be allowed to do business with US companies.  This was a huge deal when you consider the fact that Huawei sources many components and software from US based companies.

Most notably, many were wondering if this could spell the end of Huawei’s aspirations to become the biggest smartphone vendor in the world. It turns out that the ban actually didn’t do much to Huawei’s business because according to a report from the BBC, it turns out that despite being blacklisted, Huawei actually managed to enjoy a 20% increase in smartphone sales.

The company had reported revenue increase by as much as 23% in the first half of the year (although this missed the mark set by analysts who predicted 30%), while smartphone shipments actually grew by 24%.

According to Liang Hua, Huawei’s chairman, “Given the foundation we laid in the first half of the year, we continue to see growth even after we were added to the entity list. That’s not to say we don’t have difficulties ahead. We do, and they may affect the pace of our growth in the short term.”

Huawei’s troubles are definitely far from over. The company is still technically on the US Entity List, but due to recent events, US companies can now apply for licenses to do business with Huawei.

6-Year Old Korean YouTuber Just Bought An $8 Million Home

Thanks to technology, making money no longer needs to be confined to more “traditional” jobs where one goes to an office from 9-5. Tech has paved the way for all kinds of new career opportunities, such as being a YouTuber in which there are more than a handful who are finding financial success with it.

Take the case of a 6-year old Korean YouTuber by the name of Boram who has reportedly earned enough money to purchase a home worth a whopping $8 million, a figure that most of us might never see in our entire lives. The home she bought is also said to be in the Gangnam suburb in Seoul which is known to be one of the country’s richest neighborhoods and also its most happening.

However, despite her financial success, the YouTuber has come under some controversy, or rather, her parents have. There have been some complaints filed with the NGO Save the Children in which some have expressed their concern that Boram’s parents are profiting from their child, while also complaining about some of the content on her channel in which they feel could be a bad influence on other kids as well.

That being said, the idea of child YouTube star isn’t exactly news these days. Back in 2018, a 7-year old YouTuber by the name of Ryan managed to top Forbes’ list of the highest-paid YouTubers, where it is said that his channel has allowed him to earn as much as $11 million.

Black Shark 2 Pro Gaming Smartphone Launched

Some of you might recall that back in 2018, Xiaomi decided to jump on board the gaming smartphone bandwagon by launching the Black Shark. They then followed up with the Black Shark 2 earlier this year, and now it looks like they are back again with an upgraded model in the form of the Black Shark 2 Pro.

What’s interesting about the Black Shark 2 Pro are its specs, where following the launch of the ASUS ROG Phone 2, the Black Shark 2 Pro will be the second smartphone to launch with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset in tow. We’re also looking at a 6.39-inch display, 12GB of RAM, and a 48MP + 12MP dual camera combo on the back, and a 20MP front-facing shooter.

Given that this is a gaming smartphone, the Black Shark 2 Pro will also come with features such as the company’s proprietary Liquid Cool 3.0+ technology and DC Dimming 2.0 support. There will also be a 4,000mAh battery accompanying it with support for 27W fast charging, an in-display fingerprint sensor, but unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be support for 5G.

The phone will be launching in China where it will be priced starting at 2,999 yuan which is roughly $435 after conversion. There is no word on whether or not we’ll be seeing it stateside.

I love the Galaxy Note but not the curved edge trend it helped create

Ever since my first actual Android smartphone (no, the first Galaxy Tab doesn’t count), my main driver has always been a Galaxy Note user, only skipping the Galaxy Note 4 (not much of a differentiator) and the Galaxy Note 7 (fire hazard). Far from being a Samsung fanboy, I have and continue to swear by the S Pen, unrivalled in … Continue reading
