Nintendo has unveiled a new Nintendo Switch called the Nintendo Switch Lite. As the name suggests, this console is a bit cheaper than the original Nintendo Switch, but it comes with a few drawbacks.
The biggest difference between the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Light is that you can’t connect the Switch Light to a TV. There’s no dock or port designed for TV connection.
That’s not the only compromise you’ll have to make as the Joy-Con controllers aren’t detachable. You can’t put your Switch on a table and keep the controllers in your hands for instance.
Of course, you can buy Joy-Con controllers or the more traditional Nintendo Switch Pro controller separately. You’ll have to find a way to charge your Joy-Con controllers without the Switch — the Charging Grip could do the job for instance.
But other than that, you’ll be able to play the exact same games that you’ve been playing on the Switch. As long as games support handheld mode, they will work on the Switch Lite — nearly 100% of games work in handheld mode.
The Switch Lite is slightly smaller and slightly lighter than the Switch — 0.61 lbs versus 0.88 lbs (277 g versus 399 g). It features a 5.5-inch touch screen instead of a 6.2-inch touch screen.
If you were wondering what would come after the 3DS, it sounds like the Switch Lite is the perfect replacement for a cheap handheld console. And the good news is that you should get better battery life. Nintendo says you will be able to play for 3 to 7 hours. In their testings, they could play Zelda: Breath of the Wild during 4 hours.
Nintendo will release the Nintendo Switch Lite on September 20. The device will be available in multiple colors — yellow, gray and turquoise.
In-app purchases and microtransactions have become the norm these days, where they allow publishers and developers to continue making money even after a game has been purchased, or it allows them to offer up games for free but yet have an alternative for making money. Unfortunately, these microtransactions have proven to be the bane of the life of parents around the world.
In a recent incident in the UK, it seems that four children have managed to empty the bank account of their parents by unknowingly purchasing lootboxes sold by EA in its FIFA 19 game on the Nintendo Switch. It was only discovered that their bank account had been emptied out when the parents attempted to use their debit card, only to have it rejected due to there not being enough money.
The kids, who were all under 10, have since expressed remorse at their actions, but it did not stop the console from being confiscated indefinitely. To make matters worse, even after spending all that money (which was around £550) on lootboxes, which allow players to unlock special players, the kids still could not unlock their favorite player.
The dad admits that he was partly at fault for not limiting access to his Nintendo account, but it was something he never expected his kids to do. Nintendo has since agreed to refund the full amount. As for EA, they have yet to comment, although given the company’s stance on lootboxes, we’re not sure if they will.

We’re sure that we’ve all come across YouTube videos which have either its music removed or the entire video taken down due to alleged copyright infringement. Sometimes these takedowns are legit and are at the request of record labels or movie studios, but sometimes, they are taken down by trolls who report videos even if there are no issues.
However, to prevent the abuse of the system, YouTube has announced that they plan on revamping its copyright infringement system. What this means is that from now onwards, anyone who plans to file a copyright infringement claim on a video will need to specifically mention which part of the video is infringing on copyright material.
This is versus the old system where anyone could report entire videos without being specific. While this system has the potential to help prevent abuse of the system, it can also work on legitimate copyright claims. Previously, creators whose videos were taken down weren’t really told specifically which part of their videos might be problematic, but with this new system, creators can revisit the highlighted portions to make changes that will address any copyright claim issues.
Note that these are for manual claims which will be separate from YouTube’s automatic Content ID checking system.

If you’ve ever wanted to look up a medical symptom or a cure online, it’s quite easy as all you’d need to search online and you’d have your answer. However, if you’re too lazy to search, you might be interested to learn that Amazon and the NHS (National Health Service) in the UK are teaming up.
What this team up means is that the next time you want to know how to treat a headache, all you’ll have to do is ask Alexa and Amazon’s digital assistant will be able to convey possible cures for your problem. While this might seem like a great tool for those who are too lazy to pull out their phones or go on their computers, this was actually designed for the elderly or the blind in mind.
This is because those who are too old or who might be visually impaired might find it hard to search up medical information on the internet, so by using Alexa, which allows them to ask questions normally, it could help. It is also expected to help reduce te pressure put on the NHS and local clinics, plus with the information being pulled directly from the NHS, users can at least trust that it is accurate.
This doesn’t mean that Alexa will be or should replace doctors and a proper diagnosis, but for simple things, it could come in handy.

For a while now we have been hearing rumors that Nintendo could have a new Nintendo Switch console in the works. The console in question has been referred to as the Nintendo Switch Mini, where its focus would be on being more affordable and also being more portable, where its Joy-Cons will not be removable.
For those who wouldn’t mind the idea of such a console, you’ll be pleased and excited to learn that Nintendo has since officially announced the Nintendo Switch Lite. This is pretty much as what the rumors were saying, where the console will be priced at $199, making it $100 cheaper than the regular Switch, and where its controllers cannot be removed. It also cannot be connected to your TV, so it looks like the emphasis is being placed on portability.
The Switch Lite will also be smaller where it sports a 5.5-inch touchscreen display versus the 6.2-inch found on the regular Switch. Unfortunately, the Lite version does come with certain compromises, such as the lack of HD rumble and IR sensors, which means that if you play certain games, you might run into compatibility issues.
However if you think that the cheaper price tag is worth it, then you might want to mark your calendar for the 20th of September where it will be available for purchase. In the meantime, there have also been rumors that there is an upgraded Nintendo Switch in the works, but when that will be announced remains to be seen.
