There are some features on Android that iOS users would have loved to be on their platform but there is one persistent iOS feature that has yet to take flesh on Google’s mobile OS. Sharing images and sometimes files to other apps and contacts within those apps are relatively easy on Android but doing the same between Android devices isn’t. … Continue reading

One of the upsides to using a battery case for your phone is that it eliminates the need to take a power bank out with you as it is essentially attached to the device. If that sounds like something you might be interested in, then you’ll be pleased to learn that Mophie has since launched a new battery case for the iPhone.
Dubbed the Juice Pack Air, what makes this case different and potentially more useful is that it offers both wired and wireless charging. This means that users who want to charge their phone using a wire can do so via the Lightning port, but at the same time, users who want to use wireless charging will be able to do so as well without having to remove the case.
Given that wireless charging typically requires the case of the smartphone to be somewhat thin, this usually means that cases that are thicker will not be compatible, but that won’t be the case with the Mophie Juice Pack Air. The case itself will come with a 1,720mAh battery which is actually kind of small, but it should still give you enough juice for those times that you need it. The Mophie Juice Pack Air is priced at $100 and there are different models for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and the iPhone XR.

iFixit, for those unfamiliar, is a company that specializes in providing consumers with tools that allow them to take their devices apart and potentially fix it themselves. They are also known for publishing teardown reports of our mobile devices, where we get to see what it looks like inside a phone and what are some of the things inside a phone that we might not have known about.
Now it looks like the company has decided to go ahead and release their own iPhone cases with a twist. As you can see in the photo above, iFixit has created an iPhone case that will allow users to “see” the innards of their iPhones. Now, this is obviously not an X-ray case. Instead, this is based on the wallpapers that iFixit has released in the past, but regardless, it is still pretty cool to look at.
There are two versions that users can choose from, the regular version and the Plus/Max version. They will be compatible for the iPhone 6 up to the iPhone XS (including the iPhone XR) and are priced at $9.99 each, so they are actually pretty affordable and could be worth checking out if you’re after something fun and unique.

Engineer Creates AI-Powered Cat Flap That Stops Your Cat From Bringing Home Dead Animals
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe problem with owning cats is that for whatever reason, cats love bringing home dead animals they have killed. It can be a bit gross and also unsanitary, but this is something that cats do and we can’t really do much about it, or can we? That’s what Amazon engineer Ben Hamm did when he designed an AI-powered cat flap for his home.
For those unfamiliar, a cat flap is similar to a doggy dog in which it is a small flap cut out in your door which lets you cat in and out of your house. To prevent his cat from bringing home dead bird and what not, Hamm decided to rig his cat flap with an AI-enable camera using Amazon’s DeepLens, and also an Arduino-powered locking system.
The AI was trained with machine learning algorithms created by Hamm and it was capable of detecting his Hamm’s cat, called Metric, was coming or going and if Metric might have prey in his mouth. If the camera detects that it does, then the cat flap would lock up for 15 minutes and Hamm would receive an alert. The system would also then make a small donation to the National Audubon Society, which is an organization tries to protect the birds that cats love to kill.
While we don’t think we’ll be seeing this system go on sale anytime soon, it does sound like a fun project which you can learn more about in the video above.

At WWDC 2019, Apple was largely praised for turning privacy from an add-on feature to a service. The biggest proof of that was its “Sign in with Apple”, its attempt to overthrow Google and Facebook logins in iOS and macOS apps. Underneath, it used a version of the OpenID Connect specification to make secure logins possible. But according to the … Continue reading
