Samsung Galaxy Fold Will Be Making Its Return This September

If you’re looking to get in on foldable smartphones, you’ll be very pleased to learn that Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy Fold will be making its return in September. For those who are learning about this for the first time, the phone was supposed to be launched earlier, but it was ultimately delayed due to issues with the handset’s durability and build quality.

Basically, the phones were sent out for early reviews. However, during the review process, perhaps due to poor communication on Samsung’s end, or maybe the overeagerness of reviewers, some started to peel off the protective layer on the phone’s screen thinking that it was just a screen protector.

However, this ultimately ended up damaging the display. Some reviewers also discovered that due to the hinge’s design, it allowed debris to get in which prevented the phone from opening and closing. Samsung has since confirmed that they have fixed those problems and reinforced parts that contributed to the problems.

Whether or not these changes will help remains to be seen, but for a phone priced close to $2,000, hopefully Samsung has gotten it right this time round. The phone will be released this September in select markets, but specific dates have yet to be confirmed.

Duolingo And Twitch Team Up To Let Streamers Teach Viewers A New Language

Twitch is primarily viewed as a streaming platform where people can livestream their gaming sessions. However, we have seen how it can also be used for other things that are not necessarily gaming related. If you are interested in learning a new language, then perhaps Twitch could be a new place to check out.

This is because thanks to a partnership between Duolingo and Twitch, they will be launching a Duolingo Verified Streamer Program. This means that Twitch streamers will be able to create streams in which they will teach viewers a new language. This is useful compared to more static lessons like pre-recorded videos, books, or audio tapes.

This is because while streaming, you’ll be able to interact with your “teacher” and get feedback and help as you go along. It will also be more conversational which could be handy if you want to travel to a new country and want to learn a couple of phrases to help you get by. The initial languages available will be English, French, Arabic, Chinese and Spanish, but there are plans to eventually expand to cover more languages in the future.

Not all streamers can take part and only about 12 participants have been named so far, but just like the languages, we imagine that more will be added in the future.

Nintendo Switch To Get Unofficial Android ROM Soon

The Nintendo Switch shares very similar hardware as devices like the NVIDIA Tegra gaming tablets which run on Android, and as such, it was not a complete surprise to learn that there were some modders who managed to get Android up and running on the console. It seems that development of this mod has come a long way because it is expected that in the next few days, an unofficial Android ROM for the console will be available for download.

The ROM for the Switch is said to be based on LineageOS 15.1 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, which means that as far as users are concerned, it is a pretty up-to-date build of Android. We’re not sure if there are plans to create a ROM based on Android Q, but for now we reckon it’s still a pretty solid build.

For those who are hesitant about modding their Switch consoles and installing the ROM, the developers have simplified the overall process which makes it look surprisingly easy. However, before you rush out and start downloading the mod, we should point out that Nintendo doesn’t look favorably on modders who modify the console.

We have heard reports that Nintendo has been banning gamers who are running modified Switch systems, so only proceed with this mod if you don’t mind getting banned.
