You Can Now Get 4K Disney, Pixar, Marvel Movies From Google Play

If you’re a fan of Disney, Pixar, or Marvel movies and wouldn’t mind watching it in 4K, you might be interested to learn that Google Play might be the place to get it from. This is because Google has recently started to offer up movies from those franchises in 4K, an interesting move given that Disney does not typically make 4K content available online for purchase.

This is not the first time that Google has offered movies in 4K. The company had previously started to add 4K movies to its catalogue on Google Play dating back to 2016, where they also later started to upgrade movies bought in SD and HD to 4K for free. Google notes that these 4K offerings from Disney, Marvel, and Pixar are the first slate, and that they expect more to be added to their catalogue in the coming months.

Some of the movies that will be available for purchase in 4K include Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Coco, The Lion King (the animated version), Solo: A Star Wars Story, and A Wrinkle in Time. 4K movies will be priced at $25 on Google Play while HD movies will be priced at $20, so if you don’t have a 4K monitor or TV, then maybe the extra $5 isn’t worth paying for.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Has Earned $1 Billion In Ticket Sales

Marvel’s Spider-Man movie franchise has been rebooted twice, and it seems that the third time is the charm because according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, they are claiming that the most recent Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home, has managed to earn $1 billion worldwide.

This is a huge deal especially when you consider the fact that this is the first movie in the entire Spider-Man series of movies that have managed to reach this milestone. The report claims that the movie managed to make a whopping $333 million while internationally, it managed to pull $672 million, earning a total of $1.005 billion.

The good news is what this means is that there is a good chance we can expect a third movie which will serve as a direct sequel to Far From Home. This is because it was previously reported that part of the deal Sony made with Marvel is that the movie had to make at least $1 billion before they would consider a third movie, and given the revelations revealed in Far From Home at the end of the movie, we’re sure that many are wondering how this would play out.

Actor Tom Holland is contracted to do at least one more movie, so hopefully he will return. There have also been talks that Kraven the Hunter could also be a possible villain for the third film.

Google Brings AMP-Powered Searches To Google Images

One of the cool features of Google’s mobile search are its AMP websites. For those who are unaware, basically these are websites marked with a lightning bolt icon in Google search where if you tap on them, they load more or less instantly, thus saving users time from having to wait for them to load.

Now it looks like Google has brought its AMP technology to Google Image searches. As you can see in the screenshot above, whenever you search for an image in Google Images, you’ll be able to see a preview of the website below. You will be able to swipe upwards on your smartphone’s screen to load the website, or you can keep swiping through to go through the various images.

In case you did not check out Google’s announcements at I/O 2019, this was one of the changes that the company announced back then, and now it looks like it’s starting to roll out for users. Google’s AMP has been criticized in the past by publishers as apparently, AMP does not count towards page views, but Google has since changed that and promised publishers that their websites will still receive a page view when a user swipes up from their website.

Google also announced that in the coming weeks, they will be rolling out a new tool that will help publishers see traffic from AMP searches from Google Images.
