Apple Sends Out Colorful Invites For September 10 Event

Towards the end of last year and based on reports coming in from early this year, it seemed that Apple’s iPhone XR proved to be a hit, more so than its more expensive iPhone XS and XS Max siblings. This shouldn’t really be a surprise as Apple’s iPhone prices have gotten way out of hand, making the iPhone XR a more attractive alternative, especially since you wouldn’t be compromising too much.

This is why we can’t say that we’re too surprised at this year’s Apple invites. Yes, Apple has sent out invites for an event that will be held on the 10th of September. This year’s invite seems to be particularly color which some have speculated could be hinting at the iPhone XR 2’s new color options.

An earlier rumor suggested that the iPhone XR 2 will be coming in a new green and lavender finish, with both colors featured in the invite. It’s actually interesting that Apple would make the iPhone XR 2 the star of the invite, but like we said, all the reports seem to suggest that more customers are buying the iPhone XR instead of the higher-end flagship handsets.

This year’s iPhone XR could be even more compelling because while it will continue using LCD as its display of choice, it is expected to feature a dual camera, an upgrade over the iPhone XR’s single camera setup.

Some Airlines Are Now Banning MacBooks Pros From Being Used During Flights

Falling the reports that Apple has started to recall 2015 MacBook Pros over battery concerns where some battteries have apparently caught on fire, some airline companies have started to ban the laptop from being placed in checked-in luggage. Instead, passengers were required to bring it with them in their carry-on luggage.

However, it seems that some airline companies have gone one step further. Speaking to Bloomberg, Qantas has confirmed that they will be banning all 15-inch MacBook Pro models. This even includes MacBook Pros that weren’t being recalled, meaning that your newly-bought 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro will be part of that list.

The airline company has also banned the laptops from being used during a flight, stating that they must remain switched off the entire trip. While it does seem like an extreme thing to do, it kind of makes sense. This is because some of the reports we’ve heard include how a MacBook Pro’s battery caught on fire even while it was in sleep mode (meaning it wasn’t fully turned off).

While fires in the cabin can be easily contained, we suppose it’s a hazard that Qantas just doesn’t want to risk. We’re not sure how long these bans are expected to remain in place, but if you do own the 15-inch MacBook Pro from 2015, you might want to get its battery replaced ASAP.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ VS iPhone XS Max In Speed Test

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is the latest and greatest smartphone that the Korean tech giant has to offer now. It features the latest hardware like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and 12GB of RAM. So the question is, how will it fare in terms of speed when pitting it against the iPhone XS Max, a phone that has mostly dominated the speed tests to date.

Turns out the Galaxy Note 10+ is a beast. In a speed test published on YouTube by PhoneBuff, it has revealed that the Note 10+ completely dominates the iPhone XS Max in their speed test. While the iPhone XS Max seems to hold its own early in the test, it was only later in the test with the more resource-heavy apps where it seemed to struggle.

This ultimately allowed the Note 10+ to complete the first round in 1 min 55 seconds, where the iPhone XS Max took 2 minutes and 9 seconds. The second round did not see the iPhone XS Max fare any better where the Note 10+’s 12GB of RAM really came into play, allowing it to finish in 33.95 seconds. The iPhone XS Max, on the other hand, took a total of 50.31 seconds to complete.

We should point out that this does not mean that the iPhone XS Max is a bad or slow phone, but rather if anything, it highlights what a big difference a year in technology makes. The Note 10+ is currently available for order and so far, reviews seem to be pretty positive.
