When Philips first entered into the smart lighting game, they only had the Hue bulb. The problem with that bulb is that it is a screw in bulb meaning that it is a bit limited in terms of style and placement. Philips has since expanded their offerings over time, and it looks like we might have some new options to look forward to.
Thanks to a series of photos obtained and published on German website Smart Lights, it looks like Philips has a couple of new smart lights in the works called Fugato and Centura. As you can see from the photo, these are not your typical Philips Hue smart bulbs. Instead, with the Fugato, it looks like Philips will be going for a spotlight kind of design, while the Centura will be aiming for a downlight design.
This means that if you’re looking to furnish your home with smart lights, you will have more options to choose from besides bulbs. The report goes on to add that with the Fugato series of smart lights, Philips has given it Bluetooth connectivity. This means that if you plan on buying it, you won’t need to get the standalone hub to control it with your smartphone.
There is no word on pricing and availability, but with IFA 2019 coming up, perhaps Philips might have some news to share then, so check back with us during the event for more updates.

Just the other day thanks to a leak, we know that Fitbit has a new smartwatch in the works in the form of the Versa 2. We expected that there would be some kind of announcement made at IFA 2019, but it seems that the company was planning to announce it much earlier than that as they have since made it official.
The Fitbit Versa 2 will be the company’s latest smartwatch. Fitbit has typically been known for their fitness trackers, but in recent times, the company has started to expand to smartwatches. With the Versa 2, Fitbit is boasting that the device will have a five-day battery life, which is impressive as most wearables tend to need charging after a day or two.
It will also come with new features like a sleep score. This is based on your heart rate while you are sleeping and resting, where Fitbit will tell you how good of a sleep you might have. There is also a smart wake feature (that will also come to other Fitbit wearables in the future) where it can wake you up at an optimal time in your sleep cycle.
The Fitbit Versa 2 will also come with a heart rate sensor and will also boast 50m water resistance which means that you can use it while you swim. If the Fitbit Versa 2 is a smartwatch you might be interested in, it will be available for pre-order today for $199 and is expected to be released in September.
