There are many secrets of the brain that we have yet to unlock and we imagine that we’ve probably only scratched the surface, although we are making good progress where thanks to the technology, we’re seeing more brain-controlled devices. However, it seems that in the future, we may no longer need to type out our sentences and we only need to think them.
This is because in a research project that was funded by Facebook, scientists at the University of California in San Francisco have managed to take our brain signals, decode them, and translate them into text. In a journal published on Nature, Edward Chang, a neurosurgeon and lead researcher of the project says, “To date there is no speech prosthetic system that allows users to have interactions on the rapid timescale of a human conversation.”
David Moses, another researcher on the team adds, “This is the first time this approach has been used to identify spoken words and phrases. It’s important to keep in mind that we achieved this using a very limited vocabulary, but in future studies we hope to increase the flexibility as well as the accuracy of what we can translate.”
While the system is still in its rudimentary stages, it seems to be sufficiently proficient enough where it allowed patients to answer simple questions, like how they are feeling, is the room too hot or cold, bright or dark, and so on.

While most Apple Watch stories involve saving the life of the wearer by alerting them to heart problems, another feature of the watch is fall detection, where if it detects you’ve fallen, it will help call for emergency services if you do not respond in a timely manner. This is exactly what happened over in Australia.
According to a report from News Corp Australia, a woman by the name of Kate Donald has had her life saved by her Apple Watch. Donald suffers from epilepsy in which her seizures can sometimes be triggered when she does not get enough rest. Noticing her lack of sleep, her husband offered to take her kids out of the house so she could have some time alone to catch up on her sleep.
Unfortunately, while she was home alone, Donald suffered from a seizure causing her to fall, but that’s where the Apple Watch came in handy. It alerted Donald’s husband and also made a call to emergency services, where she was later sent to the hospital. According to Donald, she bought the Apple Watch last year when she was pregnant with one of her children and was also suffering from regular falls, in which she hoped the fall detection feature would come in handy.
We should note that by default, unless you set your age to 65 or older, the fall detection on the Apple Watch will be disabled by default, so if you know someone who suffers from epilepsy, you might want to make sure that the feature is turned on for them.

Ever since Apple introduced the Apple Pencil to the iPad, many have been wondering if there could ever be a time when the Apple Pencil could eventually support the iPhone. So far, the stylus has been an exclusive to the iPad lineup, but now according to a report from Business Insider, that could change with the 2019 iPhones.
According to the publication, they cite a report from Citi Research in which the company’s analysts are suggesting that Apple Pencil support will finally arrive for the iPhone. It has been about 4 years since the Apple Pencil was first introduced, so we guess now’s as good a time as any to introduce it.
This is not the first time we’ve heard rumors in the past that Apple Pencil support could be coming. Back in August last year, it was reported that Apple had also signed with a new supplier for the Apple Pencil which could bring support to the iPhone, although that did not happen with the 2018 iPhones.
Whether or not it will arrive for 2019’s iPhones remains to be seen, so take it with a grain of salt for now. However, if you do enjoy using the Apple Pencil and wouldn’t mind using it together with the iPhone, then this could be something to keep an eye out for.
