Insane Video Shows A Black Hole Swallowing A Star The Size Of Our Sun

Space can be fascinating because it’s so vast and we still have a lot of it that has yet to be discovered and fully understood. This is why we can totally understand the excitement behind a recent discovery in which for the first time ever, NASA has managed to capture a rare cosmic event with one of their newer telescopes.

The cosmic event in question is a black hole where they have observed it ripping apart a star, roughly the size of our sun, and swallowing it whole. This is also known as a tidal disruption event and like we said, this is the first time that NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite managed to capture the detailed timeline from the beginning to the very end.

While we can’t tell what it actually looks like in real-life, they have put together an animation/simulation that gives us a rough idea of what it could look like if we observed it ourselves, and we have to say that it is pretty crazy! According to Chris Kochanek, a professor of astronomy at Ohio State, “This was really a combination of both being good and being lucky, and sometimes that’s what you need to push the science forward.”

The reason why luck is needed because in order for a tidal disruption event to occur, stars need to be very close to a black hole. Scientists have estimated that this kind of event only happens once every 10,000 to 100,000 years. According to Kochanek, “Imagine that you are standing on top of a skyscraper downtown, and you drop a marble off the top, and you are trying to get it to go down a hole in a manhole cover. It’s harder than that.”

Apple TV Plus Movies Could Be Headed To Cinemas First

With Apple announcing the Apple TV Plus, it seemed like the company has decided to embrace video streaming, which is a new medium where we can consume content. The company is expected to be rather aggressive with its original content where they are said to have spent quite a lot of money on new TV shows and movies.

The idea is that this will help encourage customers to sign up for their service, but oddly enough, that doesn’t necessarily seem to be the case. According to multiple reports from the Wall Street Journal and Variety, it seems that Apple might actually choose to release some movies in cinemas first before they are eventually made available on Apple TV Plus.

This is a decidedly different approach from others, such as Netflix, who tends to make their movies available at the same time in both cinemas and on their platform. As to why Apple could be choosing to do this? One possible reason is that it could be due to money, where releasing it in cinemas first will let them rake in more cash for those who can’t wait.

It will also help them get their movies in contention for awards, which in turn would cement the company’s status as a producer of good film. In a way, this is also good for customers as it means that in case you don’t want to pay for an Apple TV Plus subscription, it will still give you the opportunity to check out some of its content.

Apple Logo On Future iPhones Could Double As A Notification Light

For the longest time ever, one of the defining features of Apple’s MacBook laptops was its glowing logo on the lid of the device. However, in recent years, Apple has decided to drop the design completely. If you did like the idea of such a design, you might be interested to learn that it could be making a comeback, but not for the MacBook, but for the iPhone.

This is according to a recently-discovered patent in which it has been revealed that Apple is exploring the idea of maybe turning the Apple logo on the back of the iPhone into a glowing LED which can be used to let users know they have notifications. The concept of notification lights aren’t new and have been around for years, where devices as old as the original BlackBerry handsets used to have them.

However, according to the patent, it won’t just be a simple LED that blinks. Based on the patent, it reveals how Apple plans to incorporate such a feature through the use of a transparent layer along with an adjustable optical component. This would affect how the light will appear through that layer, where apparently it will give users several different options to choose from.

That being said, before you get too excited, know that Apple files a ton of patents from time to time. We imagine that a lot of times those patents are filed simply to protect the company’s interests, with it being hard to tell if any of them might actually come to pass.
