Google To Stop Indexing Websites With Flash In Search

Back in the day when websites were static, Flash seemed like a godsend piece of technology, where it saw an explosion in media-rich websites and content, where complex games could now be played directly in the browser itself. However, over the years, Flash has become more or a liability than an asset.

So much so that companies like Google have started to phase out the tech from its browsers, but now it looks like the company is going one step further in nailing the coffin on Flash shut. In an announcement on its blog, Google has revealed that they will stop indexing websites that contain Flash from its search results.

According to Google, “Google Search will stop supporting Flash later this year. In Web pages that contain Flash content, Google Search will ignore the Flash content. Google Search will stop indexing standalone SWF files. Most users and websites won’t see any impact from this change.”

As Google states, the impact probably won’t be too big. In fact, for the most part, you might not even have browsed websites with Flash in recent times anyway. As to why Google has taken this long, it is possible that the company simply gave websites and developers more time to switch to HTML5 and more modern web-building tools.

Louis Vuitton Gets Into Gaming With League Of Legends Prestige Skins

Video games and high-end fashion were never really things that seemed like they went well together. However, it seems that the gaming industry is becoming way too big for fashion houses to ignore, so much so that Louis Vuitton will actually be dipping their toes in the competitive gaming world.

No, the company will not be creating a video game, nor are they sponsoring a team, but rather, it seems that in a collaboration with Riot Games’ League of Legends, they will be creating a series of Prestige Skins for characters in the game. Designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, LV’s Artistic Director of Women’s Collections, these Prestige Skins will be available for champions Qiyana and Senna.

It also marks the first time that a fashion house, like Louis Vuitton, has created custom skins for games played in eSports. It is an interesting approach and if successful, we wouldn’t be surprised if more companies were to get in on the action as well. This is because microtransactions are a very popular way to generate revenue, especially with cosmetic items where gamers do not seem to have a problem paying real money for.

In addition to custom skins, the winner of the League of Legends World Championship Finals in Paris will also be given a custom Louis Vuitton trunk designed to house the winner’s trophy.

Game Of Thrones ‘House of the Dragon’ Prequel Series Confirmed

Yesterday, it was announced that the Game of Thrones prequel series that was supposed to star Naomi Watts and launch on HBO had been cancelled. However, it seems that following the news of the cancellation, HBO has since announced a straight-to-series order for another prequel titled “House of the Dragon”.

As the name implies, this will be a prequel that will focus on House Targaryen. It is expected to take place 300 years before the current Game of Thrones series, but exactly what we might be able to expect remains to be seen. According to HBO programming president Casey Bloys, “The Game of Thrones universe is so rich with stories. We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan and George.”

If you’re a bit confused about why there are multiple prequels, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin did previously confirm that there would be about five potential spin-offs. Of course, not all of them are going to be made, as we saw in the case of the prequel with Naomi Watts. However, overall it is still good news for fans who want to explore the world a bit further.

There is no word on when the series will be launching, but if you’re a fan of the series, then this could be worth keeping an eye out for.
