Facebook internal face recognition app could identify employees and friends
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe furor around Facebook and its many privacy transgressions seem to have died down a bit recently. You only hear about Facebook in the news lately whenever CEO Mark Zuckerberg testifies before Congress or when a scandalous revelation makes headlines again. One example of the latter is an internal app that allowed Facebook employees to use facial recognition on their … Continue reading
Sony isn’t giving up the fight, at least not yet. It is stubbornly holding on to what little it has left in the market, making sure that it launches a phone even twice a year. For 2019, that’s the Xperia 1 and its smaller doppelganger, the Xperia 5. Unfortunately, if this is the best that Sony has to offer, it … Continue reading

“Gotta Catch ’em All” has always been the slogan of the Pokemon franchise but, truth be told, the games have been as much about organization and management as they are about collection and competition. For a game that tells you to catch them all, it’s almost ironic that you have a rather hard cap on how much Pokemon you can … Continue reading

For many, many years now, gamers have been eagerly anticipating the announcement of Half-Life 3. Unfortunately, that has yet to happen, but it seems that Valve has decided to breathe some new life into the Half-Life franchise by officially announcing Half-Life: Alyx, the latest title to be part of the Half-Life universe.
However, this won’t be a sequel to Half-Life 2. Instead, it seems that Half-Life: Alyx will be taking place in between the first Half-Life game and Half-Life 2, so if you’ve been hoping to find out what happens after Half-Life 2, then you might be disappointed storywise, but it could still be a good game nonetheless.
However, what makes Half-Life: Alyx particularly interesting and slightly controversial is Valve’s decision to make it a VR game. This means that gamers who want to check it out will have to own a VR headset, like the HTC Vive or any other PC-compatible VR headset. It also does not seem that Valve has plans to launch a non-VR version, meaning that the number of players who will be able to play this game could be rather small.
In a statement made by Valve’s Gabe Newell, “Everyone at Valve is excited to be returning to the world of Half-Life. VR has energized us. We’ve invested a lot of ourselves in the technology. But we’re also game developers at heart, and to be devoting ourselves to a VR game this ambitious is just as exciting. For that to come in the form of Half-Life feels like the culmination of a lot things we care a lot about: truly great games, cutting edge technology, and open platforms. We can’t wait for people to experience this.”

Just last month, Microsoft took the wraps off the Surface Earbuds, the company’s answer to the truly wireless earbuds market. The earbuds were initially planned for a release this holiday season, but it seems that Microsoft has since delayed its release where it is now expected to be released in the spring of 2020.
This is according to a tweet by Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer, Panos Panay, in which he said that Microsoft is still working on getting the Surface Earbuds right, and as such, will be forced to delay the earbuds until the spring of 2020. We’re not sure what might have taken Microsoft so long to release the earbuds, but we suppose it’s better that the company takes their time to get it right rather than to rush it out.
For those who are hearing about the Microsoft Surface Earbuds for the first time, these are basically a pair of true wireless earbuds designed and made by Microsoft. As expected, given that it is a Microsoft product, there will be integration with Microsoft where you can actually do things like control PowerPoint presentations by sliding on the earbuds.
Product-making is about the relentless pursuit to get all the details right, which takes time…sometimes more than we planned on. To ensure we deliver the best possible experience for you, our fans & customers, Surface Earbuds will now launch worldwide in Spring 2020 #Surface

Microsoft is also boasting a battery life of up to 24 hours when used together with the charging case that comes with it. The Microsoft Surface Earbuds will be priced at $249.
