As the number of smartphone models grow, companies are starting to find it difficult to come up with catchy model names and numbers. For example, with the 2017 iPhone, Apple decided to call it the iPhone X to mark it as the tenth iPhone model, and it looks like Samsung could be doing something similar for its 2020 flagship smartphone.
Next year’s Galaxy S model is largely assumed to be known as the Galaxy S11, but according to a tweet by Ice Universe, he claims that the model will be known as the Galaxy S20. This is apparently because it will be 2020 and Samsung wants to take advantage of that, and that it will also represent a “new beginning” for the company.
We’re not sure what exactly Ice Universe means by a “new beginning”, especially since all the rumors we’ve heard so far have suggested that it isn’t necessarily going to be a massive upgrade. It is still rumored to continue sporting a similar design to 2019’s Galaxy S10 models, and the main upgrades will most likely come in the form of the processor and also the camera.
Next year is 2020, and 20 is a new beginning.

Apart from that, we haven’t really heard that it will be too big of a departure from this year’s models. In any case, we’ll have to wait and see but it shouldn’t be too long as Samsung is rumored to launch the handset in the early part of 2020.

Due to the ongoing tensions between various countries, we’ve seen how some governments have taken it upon themselves to try and distance themselves. For example, it was recently that it was revealed that Russia had successfully tested its own internet in a bid to try and filter content from external websites.
We’ve also seen how some countries such as China have also been trying to reduce influence from the West by censoring content and blocking certain apps from working. Now it looks like China might be taking things a bit further by launching its own take on GPS which could be arriving in 2020.
In a report from Nikkei Asian Review, China’s Beidou network of satellites could launch in 2020 which would essentially see devices used in the country decouple itself from US tech. In case you didn’t know, GPS is operated by the US which means that in theory, the US government does have the ability to disabling it for foreign entities in the name of political or military interests.
We’ve sort of seen this happen with the US putting Huawei on the Entity List, essentially blocking Huawei from using US-based products and technologies, affecting devices like smartphones and computers. With China launching its own GPS alternative, it brings them one step closer to reducing their dependence on foreign technologies.

While many developers and publishers were hesitant about bringing their games onto the Nintendo Wii U, the Nintendo Switch seems to be a very different story. We’ve seen many big games make their way onto the Switch with many companies announcing their support for Nintendo’s latest console.
In fact, if you’re a Switch gamer and you want to get your hands on Red Dead Redemption 2, it seems that there is a chance that the game could find its way onto the console. This is according to a tweet by user TezFunz2 in which they have discovered that within Red Dead Redemption 2’s files, there is an image that shows the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
This seems to suggest that support for the Switch could potentially be in the works, but unfortunately apart from the tweet, there was no additional evidence offered. We have no way of knowing how true these rumors are so it’s best taken with a grain of salt, but like we said, the Switch’s popularity has resulted in many companies porting their games to the console.

For example, Skyrim was one of the games that was ported to the Switch. More recently, even Blizzard brought Overwatch to the console. That being said, there is the question of whether or not the Switch can handle Red Dead Redemption 2’s graphics, but perhaps toning down the textures could be one way to go about it.

Every year, companies try to reduce the bezels on their TVs as much as possible. There are still bezels, but they’ve become so thin that they’ve become almost imperceptible. However, come CES 2020, Samsung might be turning the industry on its head where the company is rumored to launch a zero bezel TV.
The report, from The Elec, claims that this is more than just a concept. Companies usually show off experimental and concept tech at CES, but if the report is to be believed, Samsung is apparently aiming for production of the TV to begin in February, meaning that this is more than just a concept and will be something that customers will be able to purchase.
Unfortunately, if you were hoping that this would come in a variety of ranges, it doesn’t seem to be that way. It seems that Samsung will only be making this tech available to their TVs sized 65-inches and above, so if you wanted a smaller TV, then you might be out of luck. The larger sizes also seem to suggest that it will not come cheap.
It will be very interesting to see what the display could look like, and while it’s currently only for TVs, we wouldn’t be surprised if that tech eventually trickled down to our smartphones as well. Smartphone companies have been trying to reduce the bezels as much as possible, but just like TVs, they still exist, albeit considerably smaller than what they used to be.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is the first smartphone with a foldable display from the Korean tech giant. As such, in terms of accessories, we can’t say we’re surprised that there aren’t that many options around. However, with the next-gen Galaxy Fold, Samsung will apparently have some premium accessories made for the phone.
This is according to a report from SamMobile who claims that the company will be offering leather covers for the next-gen Galaxy Fold handset. For those who haven’t been following the rumors, Samsung will apparently debut a new Galaxy Fold smartphone in 2020. This phone, which we’re still not sure if it will be the true successor to 2019’s model, will come in a clamshell design.
This is said to be similar to the Motorola Razr smartphone where it will open up like a clamshell phone from back in the day. This is versus the current Galaxy Fold that opens from a smartphone to a tablet and back again. With this particular model, it will basically be a phone that can make itself smaller when folded.
SamMobile reports that the leather cover options include white, black, and purple and will actually be rather pricey at $129.99 each. It will be also be made out of Italian leather. Take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll have more details soon.

We’ve seen how Apple has created (PRODUCT)RED devices before, like with the iPhone. However, according to a report from WatchGeneration.fr, they claim that Apple could have a new (PRODUCT)RED option for the Apple Watch Series 5 in the works that could be announced soon enough.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Appe’s (PRODUCT)RED products distinguish themselves from regular Apple products by coming in a very distinct red finish. Internally, they’re all the same and is essentially a new color option. There is also the added benefit that whenever a (PRODUCT)RED device is sold, part of the proceeds will be donated towards raising awareness about HIV/AIDS.
This will be an interesting device if the rumors are true. This is because a red Apple Watch will be very unique. At the moment, the Apple Watch doesn’t come in many color options, where the main way of customizing an Apple Watch is through its straps which are offered in a variety of colors and materials.
For those who don’t see the need to buy a new Apple Watch Series 5, especially if they own it, the report also claims that it could also come with (PRODUCT)RED straps as well, so you can always do your part by buying the straps as an alternative.
