Gamer Creates Real-Life Overwatch Loot Box To Propose To Girlfriend

When it comes to proposals, everyone is trying to come up with something that is truly special and unique to them that will also be extremely memorable. In the case of gamer and producer on Fallout 3 and Halo 4, Gavin Carter, he decided to put together a real-life Overwatch loot box to propose to his girlfriend.

That being said, the entire affair did not come cheap where he commissioned the folks at Optimistic Geometry to create the loot box for him. It cost £4000 and took about 12-months, but the end result seems to be worth it as this is a pretty impressive creation, plus his girlfriend also said yes which is a good thing, making it all the more worth the time and effort that it went into creating it.

According to Optimistic Geometry, it seemed that the creation of this box was no easy feat. The company writes, “This box was a real challenge to build, you can see just how densely packed with motors and cables it is. 13 Sevos, 8 Motors, hundreds of LEDs, 8 Electronics boards, nearly 50 meters of wiring and 30+ limit switches. It can even be controlled via bluetooth.”

In any case, if you have a few minutes to spare, you can check out the video above for the actual proposal, and the videos below to see the box in action and how it was all put together.

Foxconn Managers Reportedly Sold iPhones With Faulty Components Worth $43 Million

Foxconn is one of the main manufacturing partners of Apple, where the company is responsible for putting together Apple products like the iPhone. Given that it is not possible for every component to be perfect, and also due to quality assurance, naturally some components are rejected due to them being faulty.

This is a common practice amongst all companies, but according to a report from Taiwan News, it seems some Foxconn managers have been involved in a fraudulent scheme where working together with a Taiwanese businessman, they took the defective components to assemble iPhones which were then sold under the guise of being genuine and legitimate Apple products. This scheme is said to have netted those involved as much as $43 million in revenue.

Under the company’s normal operating procedures, defective iPhone components would typically be destroyed, but in this instance, the components were not destroyed and were used to create iPhones. Apparently this scheme has been going on for the past three years, but it was only earlier this year in June that Apple and its CEO, Tim Cook, were notified about it.

Foxconn has since confirmed that an investigation is underway and while the company’s former chairman, Terry Guo, was declined to comment on the matter, he did suggest that for a company of Foxconn’s size and due to the sheer number of employees they hire, “Unreasonable things may happen to one or two workers.”
