One of the popular features of WhatsApp is group chats, where users can create groups for different occasions and different groups of friends, family members, colleagues, and so on. However, according to security research firm, Check Point Research, it seems that they have discovered a security flaw that could be problematic.
According to the firm, this flaw involves how a single user in a group chat could create a situation in which it would cause the app to continuously crash where the only recourse would be to uninstall and reinstall the app again. It would also result in group members from rejoining the chat and it would also essentially cause them to lose all history of the chat.
The flaw is exploited by editing specific message parameters using WhatsApp’s web interface and a browser’s debugging tool. Thankfully, this flaw was discovered back in August where WhatsApp soon patched it not too long after in September as of version 2.19.58. It is safe to assume that most users would have updated the app by now, but in case you are running an older version of the app, it might be a good time to update it now.
We have yet to hear of the flaw being exploited in the wild, but it’s always a good idea to keep yourself and your apps up to date with the latest patches.

This month, we will be seeing the last Star Wars movie involving the current storyline and characters. It is quite an epic series that initially started out as a trilogy, but has since expanded to nine movies over the past few decades. As such, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that in the future, Star Wars films will be moving away from the trilogy structure.
However, in a recent interview with Variety, Disney’s CEO hinted that that might not be the case, or rather, he did not rule out the possibility of making Star Wars trilogies again. Speaking to Variety’s Marc Malkin, Disney CEO Bob Iger was quoted as saying, “Oh, I don’t know about that. She and I have said, ‘Well, maybe trilogies are too hard, so maybe we’ll make one film and then a sequel,’ but we don’t know.”
This does not necessarily guarantee that trilogies will be returning, but in case you do love the trilogy setup, there is a chance it could happen again in the future. In the meantime, it is currently unclear as to what the future holds for the Star Wars franchise. There were plans for a new trilogy that would be written by Game of Thrones’ producers, although the duo have since left the project.
In the meantime, Disney+’s The Mandalorian series is doing extremely well where the reviews of it have been favorable. Who knows, perhaps based on its success, Disney might want to explore it further in movie form.
