One of the perks of PC gaming is that for the most part, most games remain compatible with PCs throughout the years, even after new hardware is introduced. The same can’t be said for consoles where usually after a new console generation is introduced, games bought for the previous-gen console are not playable on the new one.
This means that the library of games gamers have built and spent money on over the years suddenly becomes redundant, but Microsoft is hoping to remedy that. Speaking to GameSpot, Xbox chief Phil Spencer revealed that the company’s next-gen Xbox will be backwards compatible on day one itself.
According to Spencer, “We wanted to make sure we had that, day one, we could deliver on the compatibility promise, and so I’ve been playing quite a few [Xbox 360] games on my [Xbox Series X] and Xbox One games on the [Xbox Series X] and that’s just to ensure that we can be there day one.”
Xbox partner director of program management Jason Ronald adds, “We want those games to be able to come forward with you but we also want your services to come with you. We want your gaming legacy to come with you, whether that’s your Gamerscore, whether that’s your friends list, all your Achievements, your game saves, all of that should come forward so there are no barriers for you as you think about moving forward.”

One of the features of Adobe Photoshop for the desktop is called Select Subject. This is a feature that is powered by Adobe’s Sense AI engine where it makes it easy for users to select images of their subjects in the app. Given that not all subject matters are regular-shaped, this can be a tricky process for those who aren’t too adept at using selection tools like the lasso.
The feature used to be exclusive to the desktop, but if you’re a Photoshop user on the iPad, you are in luck as Adobe has since announced that they have brought the feature over to the tablet version of the app. This means that users of Photoshop on the iPad will be able to make selections a lot easier and in a lot less time compared to normal.
The Select Subject feature has also been updated where according to Adobe, they claim that the updated version of it will work almost instantly, so give it a try if you have the app on your tablet. In case you’re wondering why this is a big deal, basically selecting irregular objects can be tricky if you’re not familiar with Photoshop.
This is especially true of subjects that have hair where it can be difficult to ensure that you’re selecting the subject properly, otherwise you might end up with a selection where the subject’s hair has been cut out and it looks odd.

It was just the other day that Microsoft announced the name of their next-gen Xbox consoles, known as the Xbox Series X. It is an odd name which seems to suggest that the company could have multiple Xbox consoles in the works, and if you’re wondering about it as well, Microsoft has since come forward to clarify it.
Speaking to Business Insider, a Microsoft spokesperson basically confirmed that they are calling it the Xbox Series X because it makes room for potentially new consoles in the future. As for the console that they plan on launching, it will simply be known as the “Xbox”. The spokesperson was quoted as saying, “The name we’re carrying forward to the next generation is simply Xbox. The name ‘Xbox Series X’ allows room for additional consoles in the future.”
Many have been curious about what Microsoft would be calling its next-gen console. With the Xbox 360, many certainly did not expect Microsoft to announce the Xbox One, and when the console was launched, logically it seemed that the next console could be known as the Xbox Two, although it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
In any case, it does help to simplify Microsoft’s Xbox lineup. The console is not expected to launch anytime soon and more details should be coming in the following year.
