As more companies are starting to ditch the headphone jack, there is a rise in the creation of wireless headphones. However, the problem with wireless headphones is that they run out of battery, something that most wired headphones do not suffer from. However, it seems JBL is looking to solve that problem.
The company has recently launched the JBL REFLECT Eternal on Indiegogo, which are a pair of wireless headphones that are solar powered. This means that in theory, these headphones will never run out of juice as long as they are exposed to solar energy, like the sun. According to the company, they claim that staying outside 1.5 hours in the sun will have enough battery to last 68 hours, or if you go to 2 hours in the sun, it should last you 168 hours.
If you’re always on the go or if you use your headphones for exercise like running or cycling, then racking up these numbers should not be an issue for you. Also, the lack of batteries means that in theory, they should be lighter (although we can’t speak for the solar components). The headphones will also offer wired charging in case you need it, where 15 minutes of charging time should give you 2 hours of additional playback.
The headphones are priced at $99 and are expected to begin shipping out to customers in October 2020, so if you’d like to get in on it, head on over to its Indiegogo page for the details.

The infotainment and dashboard units of our cars have evolved over the years. Just like with our smartphones, the displays on these units are getting bigger, just look at what Tesla is offering its customers. However, it seems that the folks at Cadillac plan on taking the cake as they have announced that the 2021 Cadillac Escalade will feature a 38-inch curved OLED display.
In a teaser video shared on Twitter, the company showed off an interior design where the display basically stretches from one end to the other. It seems to encompass both the dashboard and the infotainment system, with Cadillac claiming that the pixel density of the display will apparently be twice of that of a 4K television. Basically, it will be sharp and very vivid, or at least that’s the hope.
The company did not reveal any additional details, but they are expected to unveil the car in full come 4th of February. Also, what’s interesting about the car and what was not mentioned by the company is the possibility of it being an autonomous vehicle. This was noted by Autoblog who noticed a green light stretching across the steering wheel, hinting that there could be at the very least some kind of semi-autonomous feature.

2021 would still be a bit early for self-driving cars to be legalized for the masses, so semi-autonomous sounds about right. In any case, we should have more details next year so check back with us then for updates.

Last week, a music app designed for the iPhone made the headlines. Dubbed Rewound, this is an app that basically transforms your iPhone into the iPod Classic, giving it the classic scroll wheel that the iPod is known for. It was surprising that the app was even allowed given how strict Apple is when it comes to third-parties using their product images.
So much so that it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that the app has since been pulled from the App Store. In a post on Medium, the app’s developers basically confirmed that it was due to the app featuring the iPod Classic’s images. According to the post, “Rewound was specifically designed not to infringe on Apple’s trademarks and we didn’t. Rewound could look many ways. Not until users started sharing/using clickwheel skins did they ban the app.”
To the developer’s credit, Rewound by default does not use the iPod Classic’s design. Instead, the skin can be downloaded after the app has been installed, which they thought would have been fine. That being said, why not just update the app to remove the offending features? According to the developers, they claim that doing so would break the app’s functionality for 170,000 of its users, and thus they are not going to do it.
Instead, they say that an alternative version of it is in the works where it will live on as a web app. They are now seeking donations on Gofundme to make that happen, so head on over and donate if you think that this is a worthy app to invest in.
