Facebook already collects a lot of data for what you do on Facebook along with your interests to display personalized advertisements or tailor the news feed accordingly.
However, it has been often criticized that the apps/websites that you use out of Facebook (with Facebook connected to them in some way) also gets recorded by Facebook. And, that is what happens.
But, to let you control your off-site activity, Facebook has come up with an off-site Facebook activity tool that lets you manage/clear the history of the data tracked by apps/services outside the Facebook service.
As you can observe in the screenshot above – it lists all the services that track your activity outside Facebook and send it to Facebook.
You get a couple of options with the new tool which you can access through the settings as shown in the image below.
You can either choose to download your information, clear the history, or turn off future activity from being sent to Facebook.
If you turn off an activity, that particular service/app/website will be disconnected to Facebook and won’t be sending your off-site data to Facebook anymore.
Even though this does not make Facebook privacy-friendly, it is a good step to have more control over your personal data associated with Facebook.
