iPhone 11 Was Apple’s Best-Selling iPhone During The Holiday Quarter

A couple of weeks ago, a report from the CIRP suggested that Apple’s iPhone 11 was outselling its “Pro” siblings. It looks like the report is pretty spot on because according to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, he has confirmed that the iPhone 11 is the best-selling iPhone during the holiday quarter, where it was the top-selling iPhone every week for the month of December.

While Cook did not provide any figures as to how many units Apple has sold of the iPhone 11, it shouldn’t really come as a surprise. This is because Apple found themselves in a similar situation with the iPhone XR, where it managed to beat out its more expensive siblings in the iPhone XS and XS Max.

For those unfamiliar, the iPhone 11 is the successor to 2018’s iPhone XR. While it still continues to use an LCD screen, it did come with an upgrade where it now uses a dual camera instead of a single camera, which essentially almost puts it on par with the 2018 iPhone XS and XS Max, except that with a slightly more affordable price tag.

We imagine that Apple will want to continue that trend this year. In fact, there have been rumors suggesting that Apple might launch an even cheaper iPhone in the form of the iPhone SE 2, where it will be priced considerably cheaper, while packing specs that would give it performance similar to the iPhone 8.

Web-based Android Flash Tool can make developers’ lives easier

Compared to other mobile platforms, hacking on Android devices is relatively easier but that doesn’t mean it’s painless except for the most seasoned of developers. Even the mere act of flashing, that is, installing a new Android image, on an unlocked Android phone can be nerve-racking already with the multitude of tools and steps required. To help speed up adoption … Continue reading

Google Previews Its Upcoming Translation Transcribing Feature

One of the cool features of the Pixel 4 from 2019 was the Google Recorder app. While audio recording apps aren’t new and are pretty much a standard app that is bundled with smartphones, the Google Recorder app had the added bonus feature of being able to transcribe recordings in real-time.

This means that you could not only get an audio recording, but also a written transcription of that recording as well. Now it looks like Google is planning on rolling out a similar feature to Google Translate, where the company has recently preview an almost-similar transcription feature to its translation platform.

At the moment, Google Translate already helps users converse in multiple languages and translates them in real-time. However, with this new feature, it will support longer-form conversations and speech. This means that if you’re trying to record a television show or a lecture that’s spoken in another language, then this upcoming feature will help you do that while transcribing and translating at the same time.

The feature isn’t live yet but according to Google, they expect that the new transcribe feature will be launching “in the future”, so we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more info.

Resident Evil 8 Expected To Stick With First-Person Perspective

It is unclear when Capcom will be launching Resident Evil 8, the next major installment in the Resident Evil franchise. However, according to a report from YouTube channel Resident of Evil, they have heard rumors that suggests that Capcom is expected to continue sticking with the first person perspective for the game.

This is similar to the gameplay style of Resident Evil 7, so if you prefer that mode, then this is good news, but if you miss the third-person playstyle, then you might be disappointed. Eurogamer also claims that this is what they have heard from their sources, so while none of this can be verified yet, at the very least the rumors are consistent with each other.

As Eurogamer notes, the shift to first person perspective is an interesting one as it did come as a surprise. They also note that Capcom did not apply that to the remakes of older Resident Evil titles, but it looks like the company could simply be saving it for newer titles.

That being said, there is no word on when Resident Evil 8 will be launched. We did hear a recent rumor that Capcom had apparently been working on the game ahead of the release of Resident Evil 7, but they scrapped it and only rebooted it back in 2019, suggesting that it might be a while before we actually see its release.

iPhone Maker Foxconn Says Wuhan Virus Won’t Affect Its Production Schedule

With reports of the Wuhan virus making its rounds, this is no doubt going to be disruptive for the everyday lives of people, which unsurprisingly could also affect businesses. Recently, there have been reports suggesting that it could have the potential to affect the production schedule of devices like the iPhone, which are manufactured in China.

However, according to iPhone maker Foxconn, that apparently will not be the case. The company, which is based in Taiwan but has operations in China, claims that they will not be adjusting their manufacturing timelines nor will they be closing its factories as a result of the virus outbreak.

In a statement made by the company, “As a matter of policy and for reasons of commercial sensitivity, we do not comment on our specific production practices, but we can confirm that we have measures in place to ensure that we can continue to meet all global manufacturing obligations.”

That being said, there is still a chance the earlier reports could be true. This is because Apple sources from multiple companies and while Foxconn might not be adjusting their schedule, there is nothing to suggest that Apple’s other partners won’t. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see for ourselves, so don’t be surprised if supply for Apple’s newer products might be a bit tight at the start.
