Microsoft Is Helping Google Bring Multiple Tab Management To Chrome

Microsoft and Google are rivals in the tech industry, but more recently, the companies have become more closely aligned than ever when Microsoft launched a Chromium-based version of its Edge browser. It looks like Microsoft’s decision is about to benefit Google yet again in the form of multi tab management.

Right now in Chrome, if you wanted to bring multiple tabs to a new window, you’d have to drag it one by one. However, it seems that in the Chromium version of Edge, users can drag multiple tabs into a new window, and it looks like Microsoft is going to help Google achieve the same thing with Chrome.

In a note in a recent Chrome Gerrit thread, Google software engineer Leonard Grey and Microsoft software engineer Justin Gallagher discussed bringing the feature over to Chrome, and it looks like they’ll be working on it. Those changes have yet to be implemented but if you’re a Chrome Canary user, there is a chance it could pop up in the build in the near future.

While not exactly a groundbreaking feature, it’s one of those quality of life improvements that should make the overall use of the browser better. There is currently no timeline as to when we might be able to expect it to hit the public release of Chrome, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.

Fujifilm X-T4 Could Be Announced On February 26

According to the ever-increasing rumors, it seems that Fujifilm could be close to announcing a new flagship camera in the form of the Fujifilm X-T4. Now based on a report from Fuji Rumors, they have heard from a source that come 26th of February, 2020, the company is expected to officially unveil the device.

For those unfamiliar, the X-T4 will be the latest in the X-T series of flagship mirrorless cameras. Its predecessor, the X-T3, was launched back in 2018, meaning that it is about that time when it is due for a refresh. There were initial rumors that suggested that the X-T4 might only launch in the later part of 2020, but it looks like the camera could be coming a lot earlier than expected.

At the moment, there aren’t too many details of the X-T4 available right now. However, what we have heard so far is that one of the key new features of the X-T4 is that it could finally introduce in-body image stabilization. This was a feature that was previously exclusive to the Fujifilm X-H1 (whose successor may or may not be cancelled).

Prior to this, Fujifilm photographers who wanted image stabilization would have to purchase lens with image stabilization built into it. By offering IBIS, it means that photographers can attach any lens and benefit from it. Take it with a grain of salt, but with one more month to go, hopefully we’ll have more details leading up to the official unveiling.

Avast Has Reportedly Been Selling User Data To Outside Companies

When it comes to antivirus software, Avast is probably one of the more popular and widely-used options out there today. However, it seems that if you value your privacy, you might want to take note of a recent investigation conducted by Motherboard and PCMag, in which it has been discovered that Avast has been selling user data to outside companies.

To be specific, it isn’t Avast that’s selling them directly, but rather through a subsidiary of the company known as Jumpshot. Based on the internal documents that Motherboard and PCMag managed to get their hands on, it was discovered that Avast’s software has been tracking users and their online activities, even their clicks, down to the second.

Avast had previously told users who opted in for data sharing that the data they collect has been de-identified, meaning that no one would know that it is you. However, according to PCMag, this isn’t entirely true. This is due to the fact that the user activity tracked is so detailed that it becomes almost unique to each user.

They gave an example of how a single click could be used to figure out that a user bought something from Amazon on what date and what time, meaning that it wouldn’t be hard for Amazon to figure out who that user is based on this data alone.

Avast had previously gotten itself into a bit of hot water when it was discovered that its browser extension had been collecting more data than necessary, resulting in its (temporary) removal from the web stores of browsers.
