First Galaxy Note 20 leak gives hope for the S Pen

Back in the days, Samsung’s Galaxy Note line was defined by two things, a large screen that Apple once ridiculed and the S Pen stylus. These days, large screens are the new normal and, for a time, it seemed as if Samsung was contemplating axing the S Pen as well. That would have practically removed any reason for the Galaxy … Continue reading

This Fortnite Pro Just Paid Off His Mom’s Student Loans

It is no secret that these days, being a professional gamer has the potential to rake in the big bucks. Just take a look at Fortnite pro, Aydan Conrad, who recently managed to pay off his mom’s student loans by being a streamer and also a professional gamer.

Conrad’s mom was initially skeptical that her loan could be paid off as she thought it since it was not a federal loan, it couldn’t be paid off by someone else (apparently it can). While it was not stated how much his mom’s remaining student loan was, it is no secret that student loans can be crippling financially.

According to the US Department of Education, it has been estimated that there are 42.9 million borrowers in the US who are responsible for $1.5 trillion in outstanding student loan debt. It is a lot of money and combine that with other commitments like mortgages, bills, and so on, it can be quite an impossible sum to fully pay off.

Conrad attributes his ability to pay off his mom’s loans to his followers, where due to their support of his career, he has managed to make enough money to pay it off. It has been estimated that Conrad has earned more than $160,000 in prizes over his career, plus given that he is a Twitch partner, it has no doubt added to his bank account.

Vine’s Spiritual Successor, Byte, Has Officially Launched

Many years ago before the rise of TikTok and before apps like Instagram and Snapchat became the dominant force they are today, there was Vine. It allowed users to upload short video clips to its platform resulting in many Vine celebrities being created. The app and platform was ultimately shutdown, but it looks like it’s back.

If you recall, Vine’s creator had teased a couple of years ago that he was working on a spiritual successor to Vine called Byte, and for those who are looking forward to trying it out, you will be pleased to learn that Byte has since gone live and is available for users to download on both iOS and Android devices.

The concept of Byte will be similar to Vine where users will be able to upload looping 6 second videos. We’re not sure how different Byte will be compared to Vine, and more importantly, if it has a place in the market today. Vine was popular back in the day, but like we said, platforms like Instagram and Snapchat have since taken over with its Stories feature.

Byte has plans to eventually introduce a partner program where creators can get paid, so if you’re interested in taking it of a spin, you’ll be able to download the app from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store.

Apple Has A Crazy New Design For Future iMacs

Apple’s iMac has mostly kept its design for many years now, which means that it is bound for a redesign at some point in the near future, or at least that’s what we hope. Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen, but in the meantime, it looks like Apple has come up with a pretty crazy idea for a potential redesign.

According to a recently discovered patent by AppleInsider, it shows a design for the iMac that Apple has cooked up that relies on a single sheet of glass. As you can see in the drawing above, it shows the iMac with its display housed in a curved frame that slopes towards the user, with a small stand on the back to help keep it propped upright.

At the bottom of the frame, there is a space where it looks like where the (potential virtual) keyboard could be housed, along with two spaces to the left and right of it, which we’re not sure if it could also double up as trackpads, creating a true all-in-one desktop system where it would work right out of the box without users having to attach peripherals to it.

It is a pretty outrageous design idea and given that it is a patent, there’s really no telling if Apple plans on making it a reality. That being said, as much as we’d love to see Apple tackle a redesign of the iMac, the fact that the iMac Pro launched not too long suggests that we could still have to wait quite a bit.
